We parked at the parking structure and walked around the dam particularly the stretch from Nevada to Arizona. This was a good way to teach time zones. It was a crispy cold day but it was sunny so we had plenty of photo ops. Many visitors were there but there were plenty of open space for all. The water level... More

My wife and I drove from Phoenix to Vegas and stopped at Hoover Dam. This is a magnificent attraction. The history of how it was built and how it operates is amazing. Make sure to take one of the tours.

So many decades on the Hoover Dam is truly an impressive monument to mankind harnessing Mother Nature. The Art Deco design on various finish pieces is a tribute to art rising above economically harsh times.

If you are in Las Vegas, you really have to visit Hoover dam. It is a great part of US history and amazing architectural piece. If you are going as a part of organized tour, take a full tour ie with a visit to the power plant.

If you are in the area you have to take the time and money $30 to take the premium "Dam" tour. It is an amazing story about an amazing feat of human ingenuity.

This is the place to visit on a sunny day in Las Vegas. About 35 minutes from the Las Vegas strip, you arrive in Boulder City. On your way to the dam, you'll see Lake Mead, with low water levels. The south west United States is experiencing a long running drought for over a decade and you will see that... More

This is our second time to visit the dam, this time by car and not the tours. This is so awesome in size alone, never mind the constructing of it. But the drive to it is just as inspiring and breathtaking. The highway gives you tremendous scenery of mountains and canyons or gorges. Too bad the camera does not see... More

I attended with friends during a week long holiday in Vagas. This really takes your breath away and is well worth a visit especially if you tied it in to a visit to the Grand Canyon while in Vagas as it's on the way. Totally breathtaking and a must do.

This is easily one of the greatest feats of modern times. There is so much more than just the dam. There are numerous tours to be taken, as well as the museum, gift shop and cafe'. One of the must see tours is going down inside the dam workings. This is however not recommended for anyone with claustrophobia. Walking across... More

I had always wanted to visit this great engineering marvel. I got this chance while returning from Las Vegas to Phoenix and grabbed it with both hands. They have a nice conducted tour where they tell the details of the history of the place. The visit to the tunnel approximately 10 storey below through an elevator is quite nice. It... More
