I was rather disappointed that the Grand Canyon was too far away from Las Vegas, as we only had one free day. So I decided to see the Hoover Dam and then the Valley of Fire. Approaching it is rather easy by interstate (about 45-60' drive) and there is convenient parking nearby, at 10$ per entry. The dam itself is... More

It's a quick 30 minutes from Vegas and on the way you can stop and take gorgeous photos of lake mead too.It makes you feel so little!! In comparison to the huge dam people on it look like little ants. It kind of gives you a different prospective. Fun and quick. Also find a free parking in the dozen of... More

Experiencing Hoover Dam is fantastic. Especially when you understand what the workers building it must have gone through. It's an amazing achievement and well worth the hours it take to visit.

So many things you take for granted. What an amazing combination of skill, belief and human will. We wanted to do the "Damn Tour" so arrived an hour before opening. The line quickly formed behind us and our tour guide mentioned they had over 3000 tour participants the day before which is not generally part of the busy season. Loved... More

Incredible engineering, best appreciated taking the full tour, the guide was extremely well prepared and made the experience much better. Try the hamburger at the diner, hands down the best hamburger we have ever eaten

Be prepared for lots of people! We went on the full tour which was interesting, allow plenty of time as there are a limited amt of people per tour so there may be a wait to get a slot. Parking is $10 but if you drive farther up the Arizona side and want to walk more, there is free parking.

They have a new visitor center, cafe, gift shop, parking and the tours are great. I recommend spending a little extra and go for the longest tour. You get to see so much more. The views are amazing, the photo opportunities are endless. It is a piece of American history that is a must see if you are ever within... More

Made a side trip to the Hoover Dam while in Las Vegas. So glad we did, it was very interesting and quite a marvel to think of it being designed and constructed in the 1920's and 30's. We took the Powerplant tour which was informative and about the correct amount of time for the content. Being an engineer I would... More
