We stopped here after an ice cave tour as it was still fairly early. This small museum is fun and interactive and would be good for families with children.

You get just the right amount of history lesson in a form which is also very digestable for kids. Loved the audio tour.

My favorite museum in Iceland! Teaches you the history in a fun interactive way. The exposition is in 3D, amazing woodwork, real-life props. The kids really enjoyed it and we all learned so much about the country! Well worth the trip!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. So glad your kids enjoyed the exibits and where not too scared in the Egils saga exhibit. Some kids find it a bit gloomy - but the story is no fairy tale. Hope you are enjoying your stay in Iceland. Best regards Sigridur Margret More

A small museum seemingly at the end of the world was the perfect setting to learn about the Settlement, and yes, Vikings. Of the two exhibits, the Saga one was the most intriguing based purely on the saga itself and also the well-crafted displays. However, do not miss the Settlement exhibit either. Would recommend this museum early on in a... More

Thank you so much for your very generous review. And thank you for recommending to see the exhibits early on in a visit to establish and understanding of the country and psyche of the people. This was exactly what we wanted to do when designing these exhibits. Have a wonderful time in Iceland. Best regards Sigridur Margret More

Iceland is the youngest country of Europe, but still very old by American standards. These exhibits give an understanding of the Viking and Viking culture.

Worthwhile stop to learn about the early settlement and Egil's Saga. Both audio guided exhibits combined take about an hour. Don't miss the cafe if you are hungry.

I have to admit - I wasn't expecting much, but my family and I were pleasantly surprised by how entertaining learning a bit of ancient Icelandic history could be while visiting the Settlement Center. It wasn't cheap (what in Iceland is?) but it wasn't excruciatingly expensive either.

Nice museum--the saga about Egil was great. The artwork is creative and helps tell the saga in a very interesting way. Allow a few hours to see both exhibits.

Thank you so much for your very generous reveiw. Yes it wise to allow enhough time for both exhibits but the whole tour only takes one hour but for those interested we provide a guided tour in smart phones that takes you out on a tour to the Saga places near by. Best regards Sigridur Margret More

The two 30-minute tours offered at The Settlement Center encompass two different stories. One is of the founding and settlement of Iceland; the other is an abridged tale of one of the great Icelandic sagas. The audioguides are programed well and the tours are really great fun. It is well worth an hour of one's time, before or after dining... More
