We stopped here on the way back from gullfoss. It was so deserted that we thought it was closed. The interior of the cathedral is excellent, with modern stain glass windows throughout. Small museum downstairs, which exits through a tunnel to the other side of the grounds.

A truly historic site of great national importance for Iceland. Recent archeological digs have added significantly to the interest of the area, and artefacts are displayed in a small museum beneath the Church (don't miss the door in the corner of the museum that goes through a secret tunnel to the outside. The current church is simply beautiful, in a... More

I was driving from one destination to the next while enjoying the scenery when I happened up on this beautiful church. I really enjoyed visiting and taking a look around. It is a neat place to stop for a few minutes, but would not make it a planned visit.

We found this church and museum by accident on a drive. Museum was very interesting. Beside the modern church is a replica of a peat and stone church which my kids enjoyed seeing.

As stated above, More of an "if you're there" thing. That being said, do it! It's not like you're going to regret it. You may spend less than 10 minutes there but you'll be glad you did (in my humble opinion)

A beautiful church that is truly a moving experience to visit. The grass hut exhibit outside is a neat walk through as well.

We went and it was ok but it's not a place you stay long unless your into Churches or excavations. 15 mins should do.

Very sweet church with an amazing history. Definitely visit. We went with a tour guide who told us about its history. Light a candle! Made the visit feel special!

We pulled over and took a few pictures when we were passing by on our golden circle tour. It's a beautiful old church with an excellent view of the surrounding area.
