First, it's easy to find - on the north side of Ring Road 1 as you enter Hvolsvöllur from the west. Next, the exhibition is really well presented, with lots of interactive items, which will fascinate all ages, whether you have only rudimentary knowledge of...More

Really nice place that is cutting edge tech. My family and I learned a lot about Iava and volcanoes of Iceland. Recommendations: try to do this place during their non busy hours, as the exhibits are much cooler when there isn't a scrum to do...More

Stumbled apon this place on the way to the coast. It is a very modern display of the volcanic activity in Iceland, cleverly using a host of technologies to show the different types of volcano. The highlight is a 10 minute movie of the eruptions,...More

This interactive centre is an excellent start to understanding the geology of Iceland. Very well thought out. Worked out at about £20 each entrance fee, which was expensive- but so is everything in Iceland! Definitely worth a visit

Thanks for the review! Yes we sadly often get the discussion on pricing in Iceland but we believe that compared to other activities you are getting a lot for you money at LAVA Centre. All the best, Bardur

We ended up here on a rainy day and enjoyed the visit very much. Other reviewers have complained about the price and it is a bit expensive (about $24 for an adult, without the film), but the displays are beautifully done, even awe inspiring. We...More

Loved the interactive displays especially the one where you can see the facts about the various volcanic eruptions in Iceland over the years. This is very well-done with great use of technology and visuals. It is a good preview of the actual places that you...More

The exhibits are rather interactive and very well done. They provide a great insight into the geology of the island and its unique landscape. Well worth stopping by when you’re in the area.

The facilities are new and very high tech. The way they managed to explain how Iceland was formed, the videos showing volcanoes exploding was just incredible. Totally recommended, it is worth the time and money to get to learn something new.

Thank you so much for the kind words! We have seen how incredibly important an exhibition like this is to spark interest in geology by our younger guests, especially student groups. All the best, Bardur

Stopped here on our way to our hotel towards the end of the day. The centre looked impressive and it wasn't that busy. We bought tickets just for the display and not the cinema. The display was interesting and the interactive part was fun. But...More

Thank you for the review Rachelin We believe it is actually better than okay, we are the most awarded exhibition in Iceland. We've received most of the national awards available and many abroad such as two Red Dot Awards. We strongly recommend to take the...More

Hi! I am not entirely sure about that, I visited it on the way to some waterfalls. You can check e.g. the grey line, if they offer it :-). It has been open only for two weeks, so I am not sure, if it is already included in... More
