There are definitely better hot springs/public pools in Iceland to go to, but this one is situated closely to many of the country's largest attractions. It is not particularly clean, but is a distinct experience, and you will inevitably meet other travelers originating from around...More

The hike there is beautiful, then you arrive to the pool... The changing rooms are wet and muddy and have trash in them. The pool itself is green and slimy. I can see why some people think it's disgusting and I was worried about the...More

It's a beautiful and easy hike from where you park your car. Once you get there, the changing rooms are kind of gross since this isn't a monitored location, so we changed as quickly as possible. The hot water literally comes off the mountain with...More

I wouldn't recommend this to spot to swim in. There aren't any locals that go here to swim. If you are looking for a spot that locals go to look in the towns for their public pools. This pool is full of tourists who are...More

This pool is disgusting and so are the sickening changing rooms. I do not recommend this place at all. I wish I had read the reviews before I went. I hope I can save someone else from it. There are many other clean and enjoyable...More

This is a little off the beaten path, past the waterfalls. Google maps might not be able to find it but you can get to the road that leads down to it. It's about a 15 minute easy hike with incredible surrounding landscape. There are...More

Despite the mixed reviews on here we decided to make the drive and check out the pool. Storm was blowing in later that morning so we got there around 8. Road was bumpy with numerous potholes, but nothing too worrisome for our Kia Rio rental....More

We LOVED this place! It was amazing!! As soon as we parked, we realised we've arrived at the perfect time of the day because there were no other cars (7:30am). After a very enjoyable walk to the pool, we got there, got some pictures. The...More

We visited Seljavallalaug on our first full day in Iceland. The pool is primitive and lukewarm, but well worth the hike to get to it. We were staying nearby and made several visits during our week-long stay. I recommend hiking the hills next to the...More

is 4wd totally necessary? We are coming in have a van, and would love to make the stop, but don't want to get stuck anywhere on the way.

If you're concerned about road conditions, check Road.is online. They update it regularly and can give you a good idea of conditions. The secondary or F-Roads really change depending on the time of year.

Nope, sorry. No line buses or tour buses stop there. It's accessible only by our own transportation and you will need to hike about 15-20 minutes.
