We did a day trip that stopped at Skogofoss and we loved it (even though it can be a little crowded).
I would highly recommend heading up the stair on the right-hand side to get an awesome view over the waterfall and the surrounding area
Skogafoss means Forest Waterfall. During winter the slopes are icy and very chilly going close to the waterfall. Make sure you wear warm and waterproof clothes are highly recomended and have shoes with sturdy soles.
We were able to park and walk directly from the lot to the falls! we opted not to walk to the top of the falls due to time restraints but spent a good 20-25 min taking pictures along the water and closer to the falls....More
Skógafoss is one of the waterfalls that seemingly everybody on a trip to Iceland visits.
So don't expect to be there alone, it's very popular, as being just next to the Ring Road.
However, it's famous for a reason.

Hello there. There is no overnight parking on Skogáfoss. There are signs everywhere that warn you parking after 7:00PM is prohibited. There are, however, a campsite and a hotel in the vicinity, just minutes away from the waterfall. The campsite is about 1500kr. and the hotel rates change depending on the season. Hope this information helps.
