Central still teems with life, unique thrift shops, record stores and more eateries than you can imagine. The streets are still full of all kinds of folks, just hanging out on the benches or dropping in for a quick bite. Many affordable places to eat...More

We thought a walk from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus to Harvard University would be fun... not so much! And at the very halfway point (Central Square) was the worst. If you want to find Cambridge's most dangerous place, here it is. Police everywhere,...More

You would see some decent shopping options around the square, a nearby station for easy connectivity, some homeless people around which you might not like. Few small shops offering souvenirs and tshirts with Harvard or boston written on them and stuff which is likewise.

Lots of great restaurants, there's a theater (Central Square Theater), modern Asian grocery store with food court (H-Mart), and lots of new construction. And there's lots of homeless folks and aggressive panhandlers and a Goodwill Store, etc, etc. But Cheapo Records and The Middle East...More

Go up and down Mass Ave and you'll be able to find interesting gifts, great food from all over the world, and lots of coffee and tea. Good place on a Sunday afternoon for the family.

There are some interesting shops and cafes (Life Alive, 1369 Coffee House, Mainely Burgers, Pandemonium Books & Games), but they were few and far between.

Gentrification is closing in on Central Sq. There are still plenty of homeless, panhandlers, etc. but more young hip nicely dressed folks than in times past. Nice restaurants too.

This area of Cambridge sits between MIT and Harvard and is just a regular neighborhood. There are shops and restaurants and it is less busy than either campus area gets. Nice break during my walk.
