Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Walked through this area on our hunt for the MIT COOP. Although there was alot of construction going on, the area was clean and clear of street debris. The flowers were well manicured and in full bloom. We actually saw a wild turkey just walking around. I can't wait til they finish with all the construction, because it's really a nice area to walk through.

Nice place to stay, especially at the Marriott. Nice places to eat & close to a lot of good activities. MIT is next door & therefore a lot of academic types and their families frequent this area. Recommend.

When visiting MIT this is a great area to shop or get a good cup of coffee. We were sad that the rooftop garden isn’t there since there is construction. I hope they put it back.

While Kendall has MIT and a ton of companies don't expect much activity on weekends or late evenings. Come enjoy the many area restaurants during regular work hours if you plan on visiting the area.

In the past two decades, Kendall Sq has transformed itself into a thriving, high energy innovation hub. One feels that much "with it", just hanging out at the numerous cafes and coffee bars people watching. I also feel an extra spring in my step whenever I am there. There are numerous restaurants serving creative food. If you have only a few days in Boston, plan on spending some time walking around and getting a drink or a meal in Kendall Sq.

The T-stops here, and within steps of this stop are a number of great restaurants from Legal Seafoods, to Clover Food Lab and Starbucks. Marriott Hotel is across the street, and the Hop on Hop Off Bus that gives tours of Boston also stops here.

Kendall Square is a reference point to MIT what Harvard Square is to Harvard. Google, Microsoft and Oracle all got their offices here. One can walk here or pop into the metro to alight at Kendal station. Post offices, courier companies, bookstores, travel services and eateries can be found here. A quick walkby will do for a cross against the bucket list.

Let me set expectations up front: If you're looking for a vibrant, cultural scene, head to Central. If you're looking for bars, youngsters, and partying, head to Harvard. Kendall is quiet, mature, and ...frankly, clean.

One admission: I lived here for two years and am biased, but as a local, I know the area well.

To start: if you want to visit MIT, this is the T stop. As soon as you exit the T, Sloan (MIT's Business School) is right there. Walk west for the main campus.

Two blocks to the north is the best coffee shop in the entire city: Tatte. You will not regret visiting for coffee, pastries, food, everything (must try their nut boxes).

There's a restaurant/bar little hub about a quarter to a half mile northwest of the T stop, with numerous options for food and entertainment.

If you're looking for hotels, there are numerous options right in vicinity of Kendall. And it's an easy T ride into the city (or you could walk across the Longfellow Bridge if the weather is nice). You're probably better off staying here than in Boston itself. Although you'll probably pay for it.

Fun fact: there's a Department of Transportation building just north of the Kendall T stop. Had JFK not been assassinated, that would likely have been the home of NASA (his VP, LBJ, moved NASA to his home state of Texas).

Enjoy!
