We went to this park on a Monday, no problem with crowds. Entrance fee is $6pp, but if you have a state park pass, it is free. Camping is $20/night not including entrance fee. The park visitors center has a good trail map. We wanted to see the falls and go on a moderate hike, the ranger told us to... More

We decided to try one of the hikes on a cool day in February since it had been so unseasonably warm earlier in the month. I don't tolerate the heat well. We hiked The Twin Falls Nature Trail (.47 mi.), listed as moderate. The park map said it was "short but rugged", and it was. It is a loop trail... More

We have lived in Austin for over 20 years and never gone to Pedernales Falls State Park. We went on one of the first beautiful days of the spring and it was such a lovely surprise. We will certainly be back. Just a few thoughts that I wish I had known. I am sure the park was exceptionally busy because... More

Wonderful, out of the way state park in the Texas Hill Country. Spacious campsites, multiple hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, guided hikes and bird-watching. Dark sky at night, and excellent management team. A great play to stay or just spend a day.

This park has great hiking trails. We walked on along the river and saw amazing views. There's swimming areas during certain times of the year.

We enjoyed hiking the upper Falls area first. Wear good, supportive shoes as you will be trekking downhill a lot. The river is beautiful, even in late winter. The crowds were low, even on a Saturday. We also hiked to Twin Falls--a little disappointing, but still beautiful. The trail is pretty and well marked, though more rugged than the upper... More

My family rented a camper and affordably stayed at the park for two nights. The site provided plenty of space for the camper and our two tents. There were clean restrooms with toilets and showers a short walk away (no soap, though!). Since there were young children in our group, it was wonderful to have several small hiking trails from... Great Trails over rocks, crossing streams, and looking across the river. A beautiful spot with many many miles of hiking trails.

To get down to the falls is a little strenuous but getting back is much more difficult. Well worth it, if you're fit enough. Good facilities for bird photography and plenty of different habitat types. One of not many places to reliably see juniper hairstreaks, if you are a lepidopterist. The sort of place you keep going back to.

I went here wth my dog for a hike. I have been trying to explore Texas State Parks and this is a nice find. I ended up on a narrow path that I'm not sure was on the trail map, but it ended up winding around and back to the wider path I started on. It was fun to go... More
