The White House and Museum of the Confederacy are located in downtown...

The White House and Museum of the Confederacy are located in downtown Richmond's historic Court End neighborhood, just a few blocks from Capitol Square. Guided tours of Jefferson Davis' executive mansion leave from the Museum lobby throughout the day and typically last around 45 minutes. Three floors of exhibits in the Museum chronicle the war years through the personal belongings of Confederate leaders like Robert E. Lee as well as those of common soldiers and citizens on the homefront.

The White House tour was very interesting, and we had a super docent. The Museum was OK. Their exhibits are well done, but as Northerners we didn't know enough about the War to fully appreciate what we were seeing.

If you are into the civil war this is a must see. Beautiful home and great tour guide. A lot of insight given into the Confederate side of things. I was struck by how similar the lives of Mr. Davis and President Lincoln really were. Highly recommended.

We travelled to Richmond VA with family visiting from Northern Ireland who were interested in Civil War information. We took them to the White House of the Confederacy for a tour. It was an interesting and informative look at how Jefferson Davis and his family lived during the Civil War. The tour guide showed us all throughout the house and... More

Only had a couple of hours so we opted to only visit the museum. We were able to get through it in just over an hour, a little disappointing. Not too many exhibits, but the ones they have are impressive.

We got this as part of a double ticket with the Tredegar Iron Works. The museum is small and full of interesting exhibits following the timeline of the Civil War, some interesting photo's and art work. The tour of the White House takes around 30 minutes, it's well done but surprisingly small for the "White House of the Confederacy".

We toured both the house and the museum. We visited here after Gettysburg and I have to say that I think the information presented here is a more accurate representation of the events of the civil war. (Gettysburg museum seems to present events in an inflammatory manner). Definitely do the white house tour - extremely informative about the times and... More

Great exhibits tell the story of lives lost defending a country torn apart. Dedicated guide revealed unknown details of our history.

Both buildings are located within walking distance to the Capitol. Streetside parking is possible but with restricted time limits. The musuem is only a must for Confederate freaks. The "White House" itself lies in the shadow of the new museum building and has a lot of memorabilia of the last Confederate president. Beyond this aspect it is an average furnished... More

We visited the White House and Museum of the Confederacy together. Great view into the Civil war without being too slanted towards the South. This is a must see for any civil war buffs. We had an excellant guide. White House is not ADA
