We elected to take the official guided tour around the State Capital Building and very pleased that we did. The guide was most informative explaining the government procedures and relevant artifacts relating to each room and area. She stated that this was where Linloln was filmed and explained how the building was altered together with the addition of computer graphics.... More

Most people don't realize that Jefferson "built this"! He is the only president that built one of the capitol buildings. What a great talent, contributing to many of our original national documents, the Declaration of Independence, and served as the Third President of the United States; which is why he got away with so, so much in his personal life.... Walked around the grounds. There is so much to do around this area but this is a great stop to add to your list.

We highly recommend the guided tour, especially if you enjoy architecture, history or movie sites. Takes you from the new to old sections - all of which are very interesting and it only takes about an hour total, and it's free!

Enjoyed the self guided tour of the house and Senate rooms, along with the art and architecture as well as the ground which have nice statues of important historical figures.

We toured the capital on our own and had an amazing guide who has been doing this for 20 years. We learned more about Richmond History than we can remember. Simply fabulous

Since the renovation of the Capitol, it is a perfect place for history and architecture. There are Capitol Tours (sign up in the Rotunda during weekdays.) The guides are very knowledgable on the history and happenings concerning the Capitol. There is a small snack bar on Bank Street entrance about the second floor. The grounds make a great place for... We had a tour - which are free of Charge. The Lady who took us was awesome. She knew a lot about the Building and the difficulties and also about Jefferson. A real must see in Richmond. We were lucky because we kind of had a "private" tour because it was not crowded at all.

Wasn't able to go inside the capitol but viewing it from the outside was a treat. Viewed it from the park bottom. totally awesome sight. It commands a beautiful view of the river.
