Passed this building and learned some of its history while on a Segway tour of Richmond. Would like to have gone back and toured the inside... but an interesting building from the outside with an interesting history.

We took a morning tour of the capitol building and enjoyed it thoroughly. We had a fine experience with the knowledgeable staff and felt they represented their stat building with pride.

What a fascinating place to visit. Designed by Thomas Jefferson. So much history in this building. The ladies at the reception desk were very friendly and helpful. Makes for a great field trip . Our children who are homeschooled loved it.

I don't think you have to prearranged tours. They take place at various times throughout the day.

Check their website. Hours, etc. are posted. We had a guided tour on Easter Sunday, so I would guess that they would be open on Thanksgiving weekend. You could also call the capitol.
