Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Many of the buildings from the Tredegar Iron Works are still standing, but are not part of a preservation project. Oddly, the equipment was removed eight years ago and the buildings were closed. The arsenal was demolished to build a skyscraper, now under construction. The site includes the private American Civil War Museum, which has just one artifact from Tredegar, a small armor test plate.

Small museum, but presentation of information and artifacts is impactful. We watched the short movie first, learned a lot, and was a good foundation for viewing the exhibits. Located very near the James. Canal walk is nearby.

Enjoyed walking thru the Museum and only wish we had more time to walk the entire building. Will return on another visit.

I was inspired and in awe of the information and how it is presented. I loved how the building has been retro fitted to house the artifacts and keep its splendor.

We have been here twice; once when we first moved to Richmond and again with visiting family. Architectural gem. Excellent handling of difficult subject (Civil War) with various perspectives addressed

Walk through the museum and learn the History of Virginia. Then walk across the street and across the James River.

I loved this museum. If you have any interest in the Civil War, you need to visit this site and take a look at the museum. The exhibits were fascinating - one was on banking and how the federal government financed the war and the other was about what the Confederacy wanted to achieve after independence. As a teacher, I found both fascinating and will be using some of the material from those exhibits in class.

The curators at the museum really know their stuff. The American Civil War Museum has not only managed to preserve this historic site, but they have turned it into a fully functional education space. I mean, I was looking at objects that once belonged to Robert E. Lee. The Smithsonian would probably kill to have some of those artifacts. I only had two hours here, but I could have spent the whole day. I will be going back the next time I am in Richmond.

The old building and grounds are awesome. The trash cans on July 5th were overflowing and there was litter everywhere in the parking lot.
