Maymont is a 100-acre American estate, an extraordinary gift given to the community by James and Sallie Dooley who lived there from 1893 to 1925. Whether strolling in the gardens, touring the mansion or petting a goat, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Maymont is close to Richmond. It has lots of animals that appeal to kids, like bears, bison and goats' plus foxes and bobcats. The park will keep kids happy for hours. Older people will enjoy the manicured gardens and the beautiful mansion. There is somethng for everyone. Admission is free.

This is such a treasure in Richmond - it's a beautiful green space and a great way to spend a day outside. It has great gardens, a waterfall, a petting zoo, and endless space to walk around or sit down for a picnic

Our ladies Meetup group scheduled a day trip from Virginia Beach to Maymont. A couple of the ladies had been there before but most were seeing it for the first time and we were not disappointed! The gardens, fountains and waterfalls were spectacular and I can't wait to go back. We had intended to make a stop at Hollywood Cemetary... More

The house itself is just amazing portrait of the gilded era. I loved the Swan mania and the gardens which are just wonderful to walk around.

Beautiful gardens, even in the winter. We enjoyed strolling through and have gone every time we've visited Richmond. Perhaps we have been lucky, but we've always seen the bears active and moving about. I especially like the Japanese Garden. Give yourself a few hours to relax and enjoy this great park.

Mansion, Japanese garden, and a small zoo. This is a park in the heart of Richmond and has something to offer all year long. Family friendly? oh yeah.

Well kept grounds, nice for a family picnic. Lots of room for a 6 way Frisbee game. Very nice gardens at the end of the path. The mansion is very nice. Parking is a bit limited though

Late spring and fall are my favorite times. All of the bulbs in the Italian Gardens are a riot of color during the spring...and the intense reds of the Maples in the Japanese Gardens are simply stunning every fall. Don't miss the stone walk through the koi pond. You get a birds-eye view of some huge specimens, as well as... More
