Recently, I enjoyed my fifth Eagle Tour with Captain Mike, and it like all the others was absolutely outstanding. We saw a large number of eagles, osprey and heron at close range which made for excellent photographic opportunities. Captain Mike is incredibly knowledgeable about the James River and the many eagles that make their homes on the banks of the... More

I cannot begin to tell you how amazing this trip was. A fellow photographer had told me about it quite some time ago and life got busy so I didn't get around to going. I remembered early this fall and thought I'd give it a try. I was p at 4am to make the drive from North Carolina. As I... More

There are not enough adjectives to properly review this experience. Capt Mike knows this stretch of river and its inhabitants . With his eagle eyes he is able to spot birds in trees across the rive ensuring that his guests get to see many birds. On our trip we were able to see all five nesting pair of eagles along... More

we went on a private tour (4 adults) with Capt Mike on Monday 12th Sept 2016 - set off at 10.45 and had hoped to see a couple of eagles, within 20 minutes we were fortunate enough to have a pair fly overhead, Mike stopped the boat and were able to watch them using the binoculars he provided, at that... My wife and I just returned from a birding tour of the James River with Captain Mike. We had a wonderful time and saw more bald eagles and other wildlife than I knew existed. Captain Mike conducts many different trips ranging from introducing blind children to the wonders of the river to historic tours with sturgeon hunts, photographic intense, and... More

If you are looking for a quality, boat excursion to see the eagles, osprey, herons and a variety of other species, you would be negligent not to take advantage of this opportunity. Capt Mike does an exceptional job and knows the river better than anyone else around from both a nature and fishing aspect. Safe, comfortable, educational and especially fun... More

We took this trip today at 7 AM and it was amazing. Captain Mike loves this river and its inhabitants passionately. He talks about each one of the birds he has watched over the years and relays stories like a wonderful (but young) grandfather. His observations are spot on, with at least 7 years of observing his eagles, both separately and... Words and photos don't do justice to this magnificent trip. While floating on the James River in a small 8 person boat, you are close enough to eagles, osprey, herons, and more to see unbelievable detail. Captain Mike has given countless tours but has sincere excitement in his voice when talking about the birds and their environment. The 2 hour... More

Captain Mike clearly loves the James River and the animals that call it home (particularly the eagles!). I learned so much and had such a fantastic time, despite the chilly weather (he provided good, warm blankets!). You travel at a moderate rate on a pontoon boat that seats, maybe 8 people. In addition to knowing which nesting pairs of eagles... More
