Enjoyed an afternoon cider flight. Great mix of choices and ended up buying a couple bottles to take home. Recommend spending a lazy afternoon enjoying a cider on their beautiful patio.

Blue Bee Cider was generous enough to allow a nonprofit board on which I serve to use one of their spaces for a meeting. I am incredibly grateful for the use of their very cool space, which was once stables now elegantly transformed into a cidery with lots of character. Before leaving I purchased their Mill Race Bramble. It was fantastic. I haven’t been a cider-lover but they may have just transformed me!

My wife and I made a reservation for a tour. Having been on several brewery tours, we thought it would be neat to check out some cider.
The facility: it’s great. Old school buildings that were former stables but have been completely fixed up. The place looks great.
The people: everyone was great. Our guide, Nathan, worked in Europe before returning to the US to continue working at Blue Bee. Knowledgeable and friendly guy was able to answer all of our questions.
The cider: we got to taste about 6-7 different ciders. Not all of them were great but everyone has different preferences. We did find 4 that we both enjoyed and ended up purchasing 2 bottles to bring back to NC for guests.
Overall, an inexpensive tour that taught us a lot. We felt as though we got our money’s worth.

Rick was an awesome tour guide-very knowledgeable & hospitable! We enjoyed the tour & the tasting. The ciders were delicious! We were just a little disappointed as we paid for 2 tours and tastings but we only had one ‘combined’ tasting for both of us at the end. I highly recommend the ciders!!

We were lucky enough to essentially get a private tour of Blue Bee Cider on St. Patrick's Day, as no one else had booked a tour that day. Our guide did a great job explaining the history of this female founded company, and we were impressed with the process, the equipment, the dedication, the knowledge and the cider. If you're a sweet cider lover, Blue Bee is probably not going to be the cider tour you're looking for, as most of the ciders are dry, but I thought it was cool to see what could be done with apples, and if you like Chardonnay, the Rocky Ridge Reserve will be your jam. They do have two sweet ciders, both unusual and awesome. Our favorite was the Harvest Ration, which is like an apply brandy that hits your nose hard, but goes down sweet and smooth. They do ration it though. It's 33 bucks for a 375 ml bottle, but it is delish. The other was a ginger apple cider, very delicious. Unfortunately Blue Bee is only sold in a few states right now, and my state is not included, so that cider problem I foresaw when I tasted that Harvest Ration will not come to pass any time soon, but one day I hope it does! Just so you know, it's street parking.

Great new experience. Perfect for a date night. Learned a lot about cider! It was really cool to see all of the inner workings behind the scenes. Great selection of cider, Beautiful courtyard and an unbeatable location. Great restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely be back and would recommend the experience to anyone! The Harvest Ration is delicious!

We loved our time here! It’s female owned and very homey. Brian gave us a well informed tour and our tasting at the end was so enjoyable! We got tshirts and delicious cider to commemorate our visit!

I booked a tour for my family and friends at Blue Bee to celebrate my birthday. Maddie was a terrific host - energetic, fun, and provided some great history on the building, the company, and walked us through the process of making cider. The tasting at the end included 9 different ciders.
Blue Bee cider is not mainstream cider - it is more like a wine. Most of the ciders are very low in residual sugar, giving them a clean, crisp taste. The carbonation is also low. The desert ciders are like none other. The firecracker is my favorite!
The set of buildings where Blue Bee is located are also my favorite in Scott’s Addition. I won’t spoil the history - you’ll learn that on the tour! But even if you don’t learn the history, the outdoor seating is fantastic and when it’s too cold or wet, the indoor area is almost as good.

We took their cider tour for $15 a person, and it was full of good information and you did get to see the full cidery and equipment, but it was pretty short and there weren't many chances to ask questions and see the action. This very likely could have just been our guide and the time of day we went. The tour includes an etched glass and a tasting, which makes it a good deal.
The cider was phenomenal and very unique. Don't go here wanting carbonated, sweet, fizzy Angry Orchard style cider. This is more of an apple wine and reflects that. Will definitely return and buy a bottle.
The location is really super cool, and since we went on a weekday there was plenty of parking.

Yes! They are allowed everywhere including indoors, except the production area and the cheese shop.

Would this be a an outing for a teen on spring break?
Written 31 March 2016
No. Since the ciders contain alcohol, a teen would not be allowed to sample the products.
