The Library of Virginia is really not a Library but an archives. I recently attended an interesting lecture and book signing for free. The have a cafe and a nice book store/gift shop. Check their web site for programs.

I went with a women's group and had a docent led tour. We agreed that the exhibits were the most interesting part of the tour. I wish that we had more time to explore.

Parking is easy here and there is a nice cafe on site...I research here for many hours. Everyone is helpful and there are enough people and computers available to help you find what you need.

Vast library! Great for researchers. My mom does genealogy and she found some real gems of information that contributes to our family history.

Fantastic archive collections and research assistance. I attended an excellent conference on African American Genealogy and History. The workshops were informative and the library staff was helpful in all areas. I look forward to going back to do more personal research.

If I had only known how extensive their records were and how helpful their staff was, we would have skipped the courthouses in our recent Virginia trip and just spent our time here doing genealogy. Three hours was not enough. The staff was incredibly helpful...More
