Perfect adventure for a rainy day
Tour sizes are limited to minimise any impact on the cave paintings which are up to 40,000 years old. Our guide was knowledgeable and spoke English. There has been little development to the caves apart from creating steps and putting in handrails which made the experience more of an adventure and enjoyable. Not advisable for people unsteady on their feet, there are a lot of steep steps up to the caves and inside. Be prepared for the occasional bat!

Most beautiful cave i've seen, very impressive.
The most beautiful cave I have visited so far. The tour starts with a group of 25 people incluiding a guide. At the start you are given a lantern per 2 persons. The tour takes 90 minutes and you are shown very impressive walls, collums, stalagmites and stalagtites. You will see drawings that are over 40.000 years old. DO NOT bring small children. At the beginning of the tour you are urged not to touch the walls and stalagmites etc. As the oil and acid that are naturally on your skin desintegrated the minerals of the cave and cause it to decay. Our group had a family with a small boy (2yo), that was running, falling over things, touching everything in his path. He was crying (which echoes back and fort) for the most part of the tour that made it really hard to hear what the guide was telling us. At the end of the cave you are asked to turn off the lanterns and be quiet so you can hear the echoing troughout the cave system. This was impossible because of the crying (it was pitch black without the lanterns, he was probably scared). Unfortunately it took away from our experience. For older kids its fine, ours 6yo and 8yo, as they understand not to touch and can be silent when asked or the guide is explaining.

    A must see
Many ancient cave paintings and mesmerising rock formations. Explained in perfect English. You need to be mobile though as there are many steps. Uneven and sometimes slippery. An wonderful experience.

    Paleolithic Cave Paintings!
We went in a group of 12 people including teenagers. While i have been to many caves, this was the first time seeing very ancient cave paintings date back to 40,000 years ago (thereabout). The cave system is quite extensive — the area open for visitors only forms a small part of the entire cave. We saw many interesting drawings.. fish, horse, deer, cow etc. There are some pools of water in the cave, a reminder of how human ancestors used to live in this conditions. The guide was knowledgable, and speaks good English. Very patient with us too. We like the fact that the cave is not explouted just for profit (in many cave systems in the world many historical relics easily destroyed due to over tourism ( building of articifial structure in the cave to “beautify” it, thereby destroying the teal stuff in the process). Pileta cave looks genuinely authentic, we should preserve the relics for the next generation.

The Pictures are Amazing and the Stalactites “ Sing”!
Wonderful, informative, and fantastical tour to see amazing formations and Neo and Paleolithic drawings from 4,000 to 35,000 years old! Our guide, Tomas, was insightful, patient, and funny, as he explained how the cave was found by his family in 1905; and how it became protected. We also learned how stalactites are hollow, and can be played. Their tones were pure and haunting. It’s worth the visit,

    By all means go
An unforgettable experience. It is indeed a hike up to the cave, and the footing inside is slippery in spots, but the paintings and the cave itself were entirely worth it. Our guide was excellent and repeated a fair amount of his narration in good English. I am grateful this cave has remained in private hands and accessible to those willing and able to make the trek.

    Neolithic cave paintings
Wonderful caves with excellent rock formations. Not particularly developed for tourists. Very unusual as no electric lighting so carried a lantern. Also very rare opportunity to see Neolithic cave paintings from 4000-40000 years ago first hand close up. Some difficult slightly slippery passages so not really suitable for people with mobility issues. Not too much climbing however as caves go. Tour in Spanish and clear English lasted 1 3/4 hrs, given by descendent of original farmer who discovered caves. Prebook your place by telephone as no online booking yet.

Be warned, not for the faint hearted!
A unique place to visit, awesome history with cave paintings and a sense of an ancient culture. Incredibly atmospheric as there is no lighting apart from the lanterns you carry and the guide's powerful torch. Spectacular formations and water pools. But a word of warning, don't attempt this if you have mobility problems or are not particularly fit! The climb to the entrance from the car park alone is steep enough to defeat the faint hearted. Inside there are precipitous and very narrow pathways, often quite slippery, extremely steep going up and extremely steep going down. The visits are scheduled hourly but take around one and a half hours (there are two guides and you meet the following group). Very knowledgable guide (but all in Spanish). Make sure you book in advance as numbers are understandably limited and it's a long way to go to find you can't go in!

    Such a special experience!
Such a fantastic experience! We have visited a number of caves over the years but this felt particularly special. Booking via phone is easy and the tour was conducted equally in Spanish and in English. Our charming tour guide was Tomas, who was so knowledgeable, passionate and entertaining. The cave itself is stunning. We highly recommend!

Fantastic tour in the Cueva de la Pileta. The tour was with about 20 people and the entrance fee was 10 EUR per person. The tour was in Spanish and English. You will see a lot of Prehistoric Animal Paintings and Abstract Paintings. The paintings dating back to 30,000 years.

You must be able to walk steps up and down. In total there more than 200 steps but these can be managed easily. Wear comfortable outdoor shoes, like trainers, and outdoor clothing. The cave has all year long around 15°c.

Make sure that you reserve a place on the tour before you go by calling +34677610500 .

11. 9. 2019 We visited on the way from Seville to Malaga. We were lucky that we managed the tour at the set time and that there were tickets left for us. a breathtaking walk through the labyrinth of dark corridors with lanterns you get at the entrance. Thousands of years old drawings come alive in the light of a lantern. Great guide. Strict prohibition of photography. A wonderful experience, I recommend. More youtube travel video PSIS-visit. We visited the cave in May 2022. There is a short trail to the entrance. I would recommend running shoes as the cave is damp and there are slippery areas. For the most part there were helpful handholds for support. I have some limitations for mobility and brought my hiking cane for support as well. You carry a small lantern. You are in the dark and I think it adds to the experience of having just the lantern. You feel the cave and hear the quiet.... and the music of being in there. The art is amazing and impressive. There are magnificent rooms, pools, and even an "organ" which the ancients played with bones. At one point in the deepest part the lights were turned off and it was so dark. Our guide thumped the floor and you could hear the rooms below. Why go? You will feel what the ancients felt. It was a spiritual experience for me and I was so happy I was able to do it.

This a a lovely cave you need to be fit to walk to the entrance and you need to book your visit prior as no office.
Inside takes about 21/2 hours. Lots of stairs . You carry lanterns and see cave paintings, very good guide . Worth the visit. Stunning scenery in the area.

I've ended up by visiting quite a few caves in various countries. This was by far the most impressive, one of the largest and best value for money. Our guide was the great-grandson of the man who discovered the cave in 1905 and was able to offer a very insightful and personalised tour in English. The cave art was astounding and the views on the way there/outside were the icing on the cake. A must-do if you are visiting Malaga/Ronda region.

a great experience. the cave is run by the family who found the cave 2 generations ago. from the parking walk up the stairs to the ticket booth. while credit cards can be used when there is cell reception (not often) you will likely need cash. they take care to preserve the cave and the tour is informative in English and spainish. you will see an amazing cave with cave paintings dating back 40000 years. I strongly recommend the visit

Best caves that I have visited. Authentic experience with erudite and interested guide and not spoiled by artificial lighting, music or having to see replicas of the artwork.
A really magical experience for all the kids aged 4-13 who enjoyed holding the lanterns and winding their way through the slippery passages with the occasional bat bolting out of the cave above.
The caves are a constant 15 degrees so the experience provided some respite from the Summer heat. A visit that’s well worth the detour (with a stunning drive to boot!)
