Located in the heart of the downtown, Underground Atlanta is one of the city’s favorite attractions and a cultural hub. Opened in 1969 as a “city beneath the streets,” Underground Atlanta still exhibits many of the significant architectural features from its original structure. Visitors can pick up a self-guided History tour brochure at the information booth and discover the history firsthand. Explore six city blocks, 12 acres and three levels of 225,000 square feet of shopping, restaurants and entertainment at Underground Atlanta, a destination with more than 100 years of history.

I had been to the underground several years prior and was impressed with the shops. When I went this time, there were less shops. The hotel desk advised our party not to go at night.

I have lived north of ATL all my life, and Underground was once a place to go, not anymore.. It has become run down and unsafe for visitors. It should be closed and re-invested in if it's to stay open.

Went there before new year. Many stores are shuttered with brown paper on windows. A few homeless people yelling at us as we walked from parking garage to underground atl. Just not what it used to be....20 years ago.

Whatever was in the past, it's gone. The special atmosphere is still there but a lot of shops are gone, dilapidated. How they survive is a mysterie. The building is still special but not worth any detour.

The place looks like scary and the stores are old and dirty. Not a place for fun or shopping without watching around all the time.

THE place to go when you want to enjoy restaurants and other services away from the beaten track in Atlanta. A fun place for all to visit and enjoy.

Was there on a rainy day, so at least it was dry, but be aware of your surroundings, don't go alone.

We were told to be sure to go to underground Atlanta just for the experience. However it has been deteriorating over the years with less business and more homeless so it finally got shut down. Disappointing!!!

I was here many years ago and was amazed at all of the shops and cool places to eat and shop. Unfortunately, time has taken it's toll on this place. It's a mall associated with the Five Points Marta Station. Once you exit the train, there are signs to it. There are still some shops in there and a few... More
