This sanctuary became a spiritual haven for civil rights activists when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served as senior pastor in the 1960s. On the self-guided audio tour, King's inspirational sermons will take visitors back in time, while the new Horizon Sanctuary across the street is home to the present day congregation, highlighted by its traditional tabernacle choir.

I got the chills as soon as I walked through the front doors, and even more when I sat down in one of the pews. Dr. King's voice floats on the air as if he were still alive and preaching from the pulpit. The quality...More

A plain enough Baptist church, and unless you knew its connections, you probably wouldn't give it a second glance on walking by, but history seeps from every brick in this building. A soundtrack of Martin Luther King Jr playing inside the church and the stain...More

I was surprised that we actually got to go inside the church. To stand inside of such history is amazing. Great restoration and upkeep.

Visited here in September, didn't spend too long here. An hour is probably all you really need if that. Nice to take in the history and sit in the church where such an admirable man preached.
