As a kid I lived in New Orleans in the 60's. I have a vague recollection of incidents, but from my parents I have heard how they chose for me to be in kindergarten and school with mixed races, and how this was frowned upon by the (white) expat community we were a part of. So this was my back... More

The last time I was in Atlanta this center was not as developed as it is now. It is even more attracting and revealing of the legacy and mission that Dr. King fought for. There are many groups touring and taking pictures but it still has a very impactful sense of exactly what his mission was. Not a commercialized feeling.... More

At the entrance you will see a long reflecting pool and the tombs of MLK and his wife at the middle of it. The museum is free and informative on MLK jr's life and legacy.

Gave a personal view of Dr Kings life. Very moving. Even the struggle to finish the project due to funding. This was a very spiritual journey in history

Interesting exhibits. Nice to learn more about Coretta Scott King. Other exhibits and the Civil and Human Rights Museum concentrate more on Martin Luther King.

We toured this center as part of our visit to the MLK JR "complex" (my term). I feel it is important to gain context by visiting all of the various buildings related to MLK JR if you have the time. At this center, we particularly enjoyed the rooms dedicated to Coretta Scott King, Rosa Parks, and Gandhi. We completed our... More

As an admirer of Dr. King, I was enthralled by many of the historical displays collected. Buildings are all within walking distance to each other. There is a gift shop that is within the theatre and supports the center, which is not-for-profit. My personal recommendation is the museum, which houses some the most memorable artifacts from the civil rights movement... More

I stopped by The King Center on an afternoon with some free time while in Atlanta on a business trip. I was grateful for the exhibits and presentations throughout the complex, including the detailed Rose Garden outside. My only critique is that much of the space seemed incredibly dated and need of modernization. Still worth a visit!
