We visited the Caves and the wonderful Church there which is part cave. We went by the tourist train and also with a horse and carriage ride too. The Caves are interesting and the owners fun people. The lookout has spectacular views. The Cave church has part just Church and part caves, housing an international collection of "Belenes" or "Nativity... More

Guadix is a really interesting city to visit and will provide you with a full day of sightseeing. Because of the motorway system it is very accessible, we drove from Iznajar and it is only 90 minutes easy driving. The cathedral, old town and castle are all within walking distance.unfortunately the castle is currently under repair so closed to visitors.... More

We made a stop in Guadix on our trip thru Andalucía. There we went to see famous caves where people used to live. We visited one of that caves which is now a museum. It is not to be missed if you pass nearby.

A lovely cathedral, some stylish municipal housing, some great pavements restaurants, free street parking, interest all around especially the cave-dwellings, set in a fascinating landscape of remarkable geology........... Why bother with the Costas when the interior of Spain offers so much more?

Guadix has much to offer historically and architecturally. Conveniently, most of this is concentrated within the part-walled old town, which is walkable without too much effort. The tourist information office in the Casa Consistorial in the Plaza de la Constitución does a very helpful street of Guadix. We were based in the Hotel Comercio located on the Mira de Amezcua,... When in Guadix, we only visited the cave-houses or "cuevas". We got directions from a local and drove up the hill taking narrow streets until we reached a small parking lot next to a church. There, we saw a few hand made signs that advertised the cuevas as well as a mirador. The way it works is some of the... More

We first found Guadix in 2003, when friends recommended the amazing market on Saturday mornings. It used to be held around the cathedral, but relocated to an area near the huge dry riverbed that is a stunning feature of the town. The market is worth a visit on its own, but the old town is a fascinating mix of very... More

The old town is a great collection of small streets, some beautiful buildings , not just the cathedral but also the palace nearby and the convent and the walls. Also should walk or bus to the area of the caves where several thousand people live. You can go inside some and they are quite remarkable the way in which the... More
