Mesa Verde's sites just keep impressing. Be ready for 30+ feet of ladders and some tight spaces, but Balcony House is stunning. Great views of and from the site with portions that show so much detail of the construction. This just doesn't get old, no...More

O.K....to be honest this was something I wanted to see close up and that decision was challenged half way up the huge ladder that we needed to climb to get to the building. We had to climb two abreast and I needed my cousin to...More

Balcony House is the most fun of the three tours. our ranger Dave Franks was AMAZING. he made the tour so interesting and FUN. this tour does have its obstacles with the ladders and the small tunnel, but don't let that detract from the opportunity...More

First thing is stop at the visitor center right away and buy tickets for the guided tours for what you want to do. They sell out quickly as the tours only have a limited capacity so get there early for best choices. Balcony house is...More

Part of this tour requires you to climb through a 10 foot tunnel that is 18 inches wide. My shoulders are more than 18 inches wide so I was not able to take this tour. There were other members of my group who fit in...More

We were disappointed that all of the morning tours were sold out to the Cliff Palace so we chose Balcony House instead and were happy that we did so. Tour lasted about an hour. Park Ranger was very informative in telling the history and purpose...More

I would recommend purchasing your tickets ($5/person) up to two days in advance from either the Durango Visitors Center if you are in the Durango area or from the Mesa Verde Visitors Center rather than waiting until the day of your visit. The tour was...More

I can’t tell you how I agonized over whether to do this tour.... I watched You Tube Videos that scared me but in the end decided to go for it and was so glad I did. Yes you do climb a 32 ft ladder to...More

This was the best tour ever. I LOVED going up the ladders and through the tunnel. The tour itself was shaded and comfortable. I did not think that the ladders and tunnel were that rigorous and I am 65---so don't let that put you off.

We only had one full day in the park. I had a hard time figuring out the tour options and ticketing process. I ended up booking the 700 Year Tour through the Far View Lodge. I think it was about $55. Left Far View Lodge...More

It depends what time you arrive. If you arrive when the Visitor Center opens you should be ok. Ideally, if your schedule permits, arrive the day before and purchase for the following morning.
