Fun tour through this historic building with a great guide

Enjoyed seeing this historic place which had hosted R.W. Emerson and Nathaniel Hawthorne. Lots of stories were related by a most interesting and animated guide

I almost didn't stop here because I was tired after touring Minute Man Park but I am so glad I talked myself into making one last stop. The tour of the Manse was very informative and it was fascinating to look out the same window that people did in the 18th century when the shot heard round the world was... More

This magnificent house was built by Ralph Waldo Emerson's grandfather, was home for some years to Emerson himself and then was home to Nathaniel Hawthorne and his family. From the upstairs windows, you can look out on the North Bridge, where one of the major original battles of the Revolutionary War was fought. You will also see the messages incised... More

We had a wonderful tour of the house which was the residence of both Emerson and Hawthorne at different times in their lives. It was a wonderful education enhancing our understanding of both writers.

I was impressed with the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson in college, many years ago. It was very interesting to me to see his family home, and to learn that his grandfather was a Congregational minister, who preached against the oppression of the British prior to the Revolutionary War.

Stopped by during the tour of Minute Man National Historic Park but wasn't allowed to go inside (they were planning an event later in the day so it was closed). There were still informational placards outside, so you could get a feel of history.

Emerson family residence where, right outside this family witnessed the start of the American Revolution. Nine dollars for out of state residents to tour house and can not tour house alone.. Nice little shop attached to the house with some good reading material and gifts.

Prior to this visit, we had been to the The Old Manse several times. Each time we had had a guided tour. However, our latest visit happened to be on a special no admission day. We were able to visit the house on our own. There was a guide in each room who told us about the room, and then... More
