Tour is Great

It's about an hour tour, interesting and fun, and perhaps even more so if you read Little Women growing up.

Some of the inventions/innovations in the house (hot water! available) are amazing, as well as the people it housed.

We enjoyed an interesting tour of this home. The bits of history about the house and information about Louisa May Alcott's family and life were enough to keep your interest through the tour. A nice gift shop is available for those who are Little Women fans.

What a delightful time we had at Orchard House taking part in their Alcott Christmas Stocking event. We were greeted by Louisa May herself and she explained that the family wanted to meet us as we carried the stocking, being filled for a poor family, by each of her family members, based on a poem she had written. So using... More

I'm not a literary type but I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. Great tour with docents that are knowledgeable and engaging. Anyone who has read Little Women will love this place. Good gift shop also.

Visiting Orchard House, the home of the Alcott family, is a pilgrimage for many people, especially women who remember Little Women being their favorite book growing up. With guides dressed as family members in period costume and many original items that belonged to the family (including the desk where Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women), you can truly imagine what... My husband and I went here yesterday and really enjoyed this tour. The guide was informative and they did not rush through lole the other tours we had been on over our vacation to the New England area. If you are a fan of Little Women in any capacity this is a must see for you!

We've visited many historic sites in the Northeast, and I thought that the tour given at Orchard House was one of the better ones. It begins with a 15 minute orientation video and proceeds to the tour of the house, which takes about another hour. Some previous reviewers have complained that the tour is too long, but for me the... More

Having read Little Women, or at least seeing the movie, this is a great stop within the Minute Man National Historic Park. The tour was about 40 minutes and it was a really interesting look at the lives of the Alcott Family. The house is very well preserved and it was fascinating to see how one of Louisa's sisters, who... More

Visiting Orchard House was like walking through the pages of the novel "Little Women". The docents dress in period clothing and stay in character during the tour, which gives the visit an authentic feel. There is much to see and the knowledgeable staff is more than happy to take time to answer all questions. After the house tour, take time... More

Thank you for these kind words! I want to mention, however, that our tours are not usually given "in character" by a guide in period dress. The vast majority of our TripAdvisor reviews are written about tours not given that way. Some special tours, such as our upcoming Christmas program tours and our "Welcome to Our Home" tours do feature... More
