This a huge cemetery and markers are provided to get you to Authors’ Ridge; however, it is still helpful if you first go to the Concord Visitors Center on Main Street. They can provide you a cemetery map that is very useful. Thoreau, Alcott, Hawthorne and Emerson are all buried on Authors’ Ridge, but each is located in their family... More

Well maintained, and just plain beautiful. Lots of windy paths, great for walking and enjoying the day. The rich history, including Emerson, and all the stories you can read. Trees are old and I'm sure have stories of their own! Lots stone work, stairs, monuments, old graves. We have family buried here and after we do memorial day plantings, we... More

Sleep Hollow Cemetary is beautiful and filled with history, including Author's Ridge where you can find the graves and Thoreau, Emerson, and LM Alcott. Also, many folks tied to the American Revolution and Civil War are buried throughout. It doesn't take long but it's worth a quick stop.

This cemetery is beautifully maintained and an awesome piece of history to visit. The roads are narrow, recommend parking off site and walking in.

Enjoyed walking through the cemetery seeing the gravestones of famous authors and old war veterans. Very interesting.

Getting here from within Concord is easy, and the signage for visiting Author's Ridge is very clear. That being said, there is limited parking and the road could very readily use some attention. The hill on which Thoreau, Hawthorne, Alcott and Emerson rests affords a lovely view over the rest of the cemetery and the lovely surrounding town. Pairs well... More

We enjoyed reading the stones. They are very old yet in great condition. It is a quick walk from all of the shops and places to eat. Might not want to walk at night - but I did hear they have haunted tours during the Fall...

We spent a few hours on a pleasant Sunday morning exploring Sleepy Hollow cemetery in Concord. Concord is a lovely town which we have visited a few times but never had the time to visit the cemetery. I find old graveyards really interesting. This one has a special area called "Author's Ridge" which contains the burial sites of Louisa M... More

I've been here quite a few times over the last 10 years. Usually in March. Great when there's snow. Great when it's sunny. So much history in this one beautiful place.

Ok, this sounds weird, but it's worth it -- where all the famous authors are, like Henry David Thoreau and Luisa May Alcott - they're all in here! Its an area in the back of the cemetery! Don't miss it!
