- Matthew HGreat Yarmouth, United Kingdom39 contributionsSmall, well kept little zooVisited Sunday 11th December with my niece (aged 11) and nephew (aged 7). This is only a small zoo. There aren't that many animals, but the ones they have seem happy and healthy. We went round and saw everything in about an hour. Feeding time for the monkeys was highlighted to us when we arrived. We made sure we were there for it but shouldn't have bothered. The young lady just dumped some fruit and walked off (no talk or guest interaction at all). Indoor play area is small but the kids loved it. Cafe very reasonably priced and good selection. Worth a look but much prefer their other park at Thrigby.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 19 December 2022
- FunBug8Cambridge, United Kingdom64 contributionsA lovely zoo - worth a visitA lovely little zoo, enclosures and animals all appeared well looked after. Soft play and park was an added bonus for the kids. Also cafe had a good selection of food & good prices. Plenty of things to keep the kids occupied. Lots of picnic benches too.Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 March 2023
- KDX12Kent, United Kingdom22 contributionsExcellent day with our little oneWe visited amazona zoo whilst on a break to Norfolk and we are so pleased we did! The park was well looked after and the perfect size for our toddler to be Able to walk about exploring, the animals are well looked after and we found the park had a very relaxing atmosphere. A great way to spend a few hours. The soft play area was a great addition and was clean and well looked after. All in all a great family day out.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 April 2023
- Clifford H2 contributionsA pleasant day out meeting some amazing animals from South AmericaA very pleasant time wandering around meeting the animals in this quaint well run zoo. The animals all appeared happy and content and were certainly well carried for. More than happy to pay the £56 entrance fee for my 3 grand children wife and I.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 7 May 2023
- rosshensonCanterbury, United Kingdom14 contributionsLimited by small site. Good play areas.Visited with grandchildren aged from 3 to 17 and their Mums. Clean, well-kept, animals healthy but small site severely limits number of animals and size of enclosures. Sad there is only 1 jaguar and 1 ocelot and 1 large snake and only 1 of most creatures so little breeding. Except the tapirs have a baby. All children enjoyed outdoor play but were bored/disappointed with animals. Preschoolers enjoyed indoor play too. Verdict - Ok for primary school age, not good for teenagers.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 11 June 2023
- Dave H9 contributionsNot a bad day out.Amazona Zoo is small, though this reflects in the entrance fee which is low priced, and good value. It was a dull overcast day, so we didn't see it at it's best. The food in the café was good, and again good value for money. Some animals like the Mara, and Chilean Flamingo's were free roaming, and very human friendly.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 June 2023
- Chandrani NKolkata (Calcutta), India179 contributionsNice little zooVery nice little zoo, with many South American animal species. The Anaconda, Jaguar, Puma, Flamingoes are some of the special attractions. Kids enjoyed at the play area as well. There's a picnic area. The jungle cafe is also very good, offering food, coffee, ice cream etc. Overall it was a lovely experience with kids. 3 to 4 hours can be well spent here.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 June 2023
- Sharon I1 contributionGreat, family friendly place! The whole experience was great, from arriving to leaving. I would have to mention the staff who are all lovely - they all seem to be happy in their work and are so polite. We called in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the prices for good quality food Our first visit was the very first year you opened - you’ve come a long way since then. I hope you keep it going - you’re doing a fab job I would also have to mention that unlike many other places, it’s not essential to book and pay online. This is a bonus to people who are unable to do it for various reasons!Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 July 2023
- Emily ASoham, United Kingdom99 contributionsHmmmm hard one, it’s a mixed bagWe had a pleasant few hours but I’m not sure we would go back. It was cheap enough to get in and the play group at the back of the zoo was good, the jumping pillows were fab, our little one also enjoyed the small soft play but it was a little grubby. The animal enclosures I’m sure comply with welfare standards but appeared very small to us, also the lakes were very grown. Like a lot of the greenery in the park. The park is looking tired and needed some money spending on it. One baby changer/disable loo for whole park meant a long wait when we had to join queue. There is two toilets near play area at the back of zoo but no baby facilities. Also the main block of toilets are tired and in-fact not very clean at all. The staff we encountered were very pleasant and we enjoyed seeing the deer like/hare animals walking freely around the zoo. It’s not very big but can make a half day from it.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 July 2023
- Sue W4 contributionsBoringI was a bit disappointed with this place to be honest. I think it would be ok for those with young children but as two adults, I was bored. I felt the place was looking tired and needs some money spent on it. After we left, we visited the Hillside Shire Horse sanctuary and that place was excellent.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 July 2023

We had a great few hours here. It was a rainy day so not too busy and we were able to get close to the animals. We really enjoyed seeing the big cats and the reptile house. My younger kids loved the soft play area and we had a nice lunch in the cafe.

Still great value for money, including the café. An interesting selection of South American animals and birds, got new photos I didn't get last time, and better ones of the Black-necked swan. Hopefully this zoo might expand in the future to include more.

The smallest enclosures I’ve ever seen for big beautiful animals such felines. Really upsetting and really annoyed me, the more I saw the more it made me want to leave. They look seriously unhappy & stressed. Worst zoo I’ve ever been to. State you want to protect animals but your actually a disgrace sort it out.

Excellent day purchased yearly memberships for the family as it had been a couple of years since we last went. The staff really helpful apart from thec2 young members of staff on pick your own fruit. One asleep yawned then went back to sleep the other didn't want help and after asking a question. It's a shame they weren't as customer focused and helpful as staff at the zoo.

Receptionist has a very poor attitude and comes across as condersending.
We were all shocked to see how the animals were kept. Enclosures are small and dirty. The whole place smelt really bad, yes I know it is full of animals, but we have been to many zoos and have not experienced this. Animals were sad and unstimulated. A bigger zoo needs to rescue these animals.
Took us an hour and a half inc a coffee break to get round and see the animals. Worst zoo we have ever been to. Just made us sad.
Hoping that the authorities will step in and review their licence.

Hi there. Please could someone give me an idea of how long you would likely be at the zoo I.e. a few hours or a full day? Just with having to book places now I wondered if it was worth booking somewhere to go after the zoo too.
Thank you

Hi Grace, do you know if there are any Vegan options in a cafe there or anything like that?
Grace R
Norwich, UK46 contributions
Hi there,
No, unfortunately there isn’t anything for vegans (not even soya milk) but if you’re willing to risk it, there are chips. They’re not bad.
You might be better taking a picnic as there are some nice places to sit and relax including picnic benches.
Hope that helps.
Grace 👍😃

If the weather is bad are there indoor viewing areas or is the zoo quite open??

Hi - there was a rain shower when we were there. Most is open, but you can stay indoors for some parts, like the more tropical animals. There is a yurt play/education space and of course the indoor soft play. The cafe has plenty of space and you can get a good priced cuppa (although it is mostly from a machine as I recall.

how much is entry
LJG23AUG
Costessey, UK52 contributions
There are a few entry prices depending on if you are going on your own or with a family. The website has the details but I think it's £11.50 for an adult £8.50 per child or £35 for a family of four. Carers go free.
