    I love Mendip Activity Centre
We have visited a few times with the children to do the frisbee golf and tobogganing. Today we did the frisbee golf. I love that there is often a trail to take part in that is included in the price with a prize for the children. They love doing this, this time it was a yeti trail (we have previously done the easter trail). Would definitely recommend this place and my son has a voucher and wants to do caving, so we'll definitely be back. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Only downside this time was that the Alpine Lodge was closed and we were hoping for a hot drink and a slushy.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review - really appreciated! We're so pleased you enjoyed our woodland activity Frisbee Golf/Yeti Hunt. But we're sorry to hear you missed out on a visit to our restaurant. We hope to welcome you back to Mendip soon for more outdoor adventures! Caving is a great choice - perfect activity all year round.

Outstanding activity centre in a wonderful countryside setting.
Fantastic venue. Staff AMAZING-shout out to Anthony the climbing instructor-we learnt lots during our private session with you 👍 Lots of activities at reasonable prices to keep young and old bods occupied. Base camp vast with good washing up/shower/toilet facilities. The Pavilion a bonus for food/drinks/supplies and USB charging ports! Lovely woodland walks and scenery. Excellent evening entertainment at The Lodge -meals tasty if you fancy a night off. We thoroughly enjoyed tobogganing, archery, rock climbing and frisbee golf during storm Antoni. We will return soon for more adrenaline action!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are really grateful that you took the time to leave us a 5-star review. We're so pleased you enjoyed all of Mendip's facilities and entertainment. Look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

    Amazing time and Instructor-Ali
Went paddle boarding today with 3 of my kids and my niece and nephew. My 10 year old boy is autistic and I wasn’t really sure how he was gonna cope given the fact he has never done anything like this before. Well, he absolutely loved it (as did the others) and I think it was helped by the amazing instructor ALI who was amazing with him. The understanding, communication and support he gave was outstanding and my son is already asking when we can go back. 100% amazing experience.
Thank you for your wonderful review! It's really appreciated! We're so glad you had a great paddle boarding experience with our brilliant instructor Ali.

    Unplug and enjoy time together.
Our second visit to Basecamp, first July 2021, really impressed with the facilities and range of activities available. Family of 5 with 3 children, 14, 11, 10. Plenty of open space for them to play, tends to be a great culture from the staff to instructors all wanting you to get the most from your stay and activity. Activities start on time and equipment well maintained. Noticed this year the air rifels have been upgraded much to the children's delight. On the whole the people who visit are genuinely there for family time or enriching their children. We did have a negative experience this year with people camping too close and being inconsiderate but you'd get that anywhere. Abseiling with Instructor Rod was fantastic, Archery with Abi was great, she really brought out the competitive side to us all. The kids loved Air rifel with Danny too. We had 7 nights of a very enjoyable holiday. We will be back.
Thank you so much for your full review! We're so glad you enjoyed your action-packed stay with us. Sorry to hear you experienced some inconsiderate campers though - we do advise that campers leave a 6m space between other tents. But glad to hear that overall you had an enjoyable holiday with us. We look forward to welcoming you back for your 3rd visit/stay!

Paddle boarding lesson from James G
First time on a paddle board for my wife and myself (both in our fifties). Brilliant! James G provided an excellent balance of tutoring and letting us get on with things. He catered for all the age groups in a patient manner. Can now practice paddle boarding anywhere. Would recommend (even if you are nervous).
Thank you so much for your brilliant review! We're so pleased you had a great paddle-boarding session with James and fantastic to hear you feel confident to get out on a SUP again! Enjoy all your SUP adventures!!

    Christmas must - twilight tobogganing
A real Christmassy experience! 100% recommend for friends and family. Everyone receives a Christmas hat on arrival, your group then gets 30minutes on a slope with twinkly lights and fake snow. Fun for kids and adults! After sledding fun your group gets taken to their own campfire under a canopy to make smores, drink hot chocolate and play with sparklers. A lovely experience to kick off the festive season!

Try Twilight Tobogganing - well done !
Twilight tobogganing was really good fun. Christmas lights, real (fake) snow from a snow machine, and Christmas music. Great fun tobogganing. Campfire hot chocolate, sparklers and S'mores was very classy under cover with lovely lights. Had potential to be tacky, but was really well done, lovely staff !

    A fab family day out
Had a brilliant time with our two 11 yr old sons at Mendip Activity Centre. We had booked vouchers for Xmas and it was easy to redeem them. They loved the rifle shooting, archery and axe throwing. We were very impressed with each of staff on the activities who were engaging and had lots of activities for the kids to do. The facilities were great as was the coffee shop. Would highly recommend this place and will go back again.

    Amazing family day out
Went as a group of foster carers with a range of children ages and ability. We had the absolutely lovely apprentice Rowen who was just amazing with kids and adults. Kept it up beat all day and changed our activity when the weather got bad. Kept it safe but fun and informative. We enjoyed the rifle shooting, Frisbee golf and then we did team games in the tent. As a site there was loads to do there. Site was clean and all staff seemed really friendly. Will definitely be back again.

    Frisbee Golf
Booked Frisbee golf for family fun. Well it certainly was! Due to rain the previous day it was definitely slippery under foot. Great to be outdoors having fun in the sun. We didn't have to wait for other people until the very last hole so we had a continuous game. We lost a Frisbee at the last hole. Unfortunately due to the amount of brambles and nettles we couldn't retrieve it. Honestly great fun for all ages and will book again.

We stayed in the campsite, although wet through, a wonderful experience.

We booked climbing session as a family with the activity centre

We were with instructor Leonie, who was fabulous! She really knew how to pitch her instructions to the various ages of our group and was calm and clear with her climbing instructions, brilliant with the kids. It was raining non stop, but she was chirpy and friendly, kind and engaging. A real asset to the team. Thanks

We visited The Mendip Activity Centre for tobogganing. We were lucky enough to be able to book half a slope for 30 mins for up to 8 people. It was easy to book and despite me booking several months in advance a reminder text was sent to me the day before. Upon arrival there was plenty of parking and the safety briefing was delivered efficiently. The experience was great and the 7 of us had a lovely time. We visited The Alpine Lodge for hot drinks after our session. Service was quick and the drinks were nice and reasonably priced. This is our third time tobogganing in as many years and I'm sure we will visit again. Thanks for a lovely afternoon out.

Overall a great Christmas experience the kids loved it.

The slope itself was small enough for the kids to feel safe but fast enough to have plenty of fun. The Toboggans were easy to use, my 4 year old managed ok, although his older brothers had to carry it back up the steps (Adults were also allowed down to the bottom to help too, but not to ride!) They had a snow machine that came on periodically which added to the excitement and the lights and music made it very Christmassy.

The 'free' mulled wine and mince pies were a bit disappointing (basically juice) as was the goody bag - the 'special chocolate' advertised was in fact the sort of little choc you get presented with the bill at the end of the meal!! No big deal... I just hate when things are advertised as part of a package and then dont real live up to the advert. Still the main event of Tobogganing was fab, which was what it was all about!

We will definitely go back next year :)

Spent a day here with 3 kids. Archery and rifle shooting were good but don't bother with recreational skiing. The slope is in bad condition and some of our hire boots were very old and dirty. You can't hire poles so have to ski without unless you take your own, I didn't realise this at the time of booking or wouldn't have bothered. Getting our equipment was very slow and even slower giving it back. Very overpriced too.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm very sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations on this visit. We will take on board all of your comments and certainly look to make it clearer on booking that we do not provide poles for skiing. Unfortunately Covid regulations have meant that our kit up process has been taking longer with limited people allowed in the room and we are working to improve this all the time. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

If you’re after a 2 hour ski lesson then go somewhere else!

We booked a 2 hour ski lesson from 1-3pm and spent the first 20-25 minutes in the boot room! The lesson ended at least 15 minutes early! My son was asked to leave the slopes 20 mins into the session because apparently he couldn’t make the correct turn. He’s had previous lessons a while ago and so was a bit rusty. If the instructor had allowed him to spend time practicing he would have quickly picked it up, after all that’s the whole point of the lesson! Instead of the instructor being patient and passing on her skills, it was easier for her to send him off which I find extremely lazy and unprofessional. Health and Safety was not an issue.

The lesson cost £45, so I spoke with the manager about a refund. He was extremely rude and said that he would only give a 50% refund because my son had received half a lesson! I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! My son had spent 20 minutes on the slopes. Since when has 20 minutes been half of 2 hours!! I found the manager to be extremely deceitful!

After a long discussion with the manager, I managed to get a £30 refund which I am still unhappy with. I should have been refunded in full.

I have since been to another ski centre who were fantastic! The 2 hour lesson was exactly that, 2 hours on the slopes!

I explained my story to them, they said it often happens when you employ inexperienced and unprofessional staff!

Dear Erica, I am leaving a copy of the email that we sent you after this incident. I am very sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your experience today and were also not happy with the resolution offer of a free repeat lesson at the appropriate level or a 50% refund on the booked lesson. With all of our lessons, we have minimum requirements of what participants must do so that both they and other users remain safe on the slope. Before we advance with people we need to see evidence that they will be safe and able to do so. Following our conversation, I have now had the opportunity and time to speak with all involved and review the CCTV footage. Having reviewed the CCTV I can see that your group was met at 13:01 outside the bootroom, forms were collected and they were then in the room at 13:03 where they were kitted up before leaving the room at 13:19. They were then given a slope briefing and were on the slope at 13:21 and your son was eventually asked to leave at 13:55. Having spoken to the instructor and watched some of the lesson, I understand that your children and one other person needed help and additional coaching to get to the correct level for the lesson. Unfortunately it got to the stage where the other group members who were at the correct level needed to move on and advance with turning. It was clear that your son had not got to this stage and could not control his skis well enough to slow himself in a straight line, let alone turn. Therefore the instructor made the difficult choice to ask him to leave for the benefit of the others in the group and the safety of your son. Your daughter had just got to an acceptable level and was thus able to continue. Your son was then de-kitted and taken to reception and advised that he needed to complete the 1 Star Lesson instead and you were called. When you came into reception you spoke to a Duty Manager who explained why he had been removed and whilst we understand that you would want him to continue, we do have to make these difficult decisions to ensure the best outcome for all our clients. I am aware that you asked for a full refund and the Duty Manager informed you that she would need to speak to the Centre Manager before making any decisions. Having reviewed everything, the best thing for your son to progress would be to take part in 1 Star Lesson which we had offered you for free. Alternatively, you were offered a minimum of 50% refund as to my knowledge at the time, without speaking to those involved, he had been on the session for half the lesson; however, I can see from the timings that it was just under half the time and I have therefore asked the finance team to issue an online refund of £30. This may take up to a week for your bank to process. I know that this is not the full refund that was requested but I feel that as your son did take part in some of the lesson and receive additional coaching to try to get him to the correct standard, I feel that this is a fair solution. All the best, Phil Turner Head of Centre

Finding ourselves at a loose end on a Saturday afternoon we booked a rock climbing session as a chance to try something new. The session was excellent, we were given clear instructions and tips as we climbed (and much needed encouragement where necessary!). The climbs were fun and increasing in difficulty as the session progressed. Mark was very knowledgeable, patient and friendly. And at just £15 per person for 2 hours, it was really good value for money.

Over the Summer we have enjoyed lots of the activities here, including the ski slope, air rifle shooting and archery. The instructors have all been brilliant, really fun and helpful. The facilities are really good and the children all enjoyed having a milkshake afterwards. The staff are fantastic and go out if their way to ensure everything runs smoothly. We would have been lost without the Centre this Summer and would recommend it to any family looking for outdoor activities.

I booked the Mission Impossible for a friend's stag do and we had an excellent time. We wanted to do something different, the stag is a fan of escape rooms and puzzles so I was looking for something that would incorporate the two things. I will admit, we didn't really know to expect but we all really enjoyed it. Jill and Ali who took us round were brilliant, joining in with the fun and taking care of us.

If you like puzzles, a bit of a walk (but really, no more then two miles tops) and physical activities that test you but aren't too much, then I would recommend this. We would totally do the Mission Impossible again.

We visited the twilight Halloween tobogganing evening. Was great fun, well organised and loved the decorations. The sweets and hot chocolate in the cafe afterwards was a lovely touch. Really friendly staff. Big praise for the young lady in the cafe afterwards (Monday evening) who was really patient and helpful regarding food allergies. It was really appreciated - thank you!
