Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Horrible experience with the so-called know-it-all captain. Not sure what the others are like but the main one is a nightmare. Avoid.

Hi Ellie, Thank you for your feedback and sorry to hear about your experience in September. If you can let us know which vessel you sailed on as on checking our records we don't seem to have someone with the same name as your user name having sailed with us. Please feel free to contact us directly on reservations@challengewales.org with your correct details and we will be more than happy to discuss your sailing experience.

Meeting the other crew for the first time in Aberdeen I had no idea how much fun and enjoyable this trip would be. The permanent crew were very welcoming and professional and the boat lived up to its reputation as one of the strongest ever built. Split into 2 watches we quickly gelled into working teams with everyone involved and everyone contributing. The boat was a joy to helm and the sailing first class. My only regret was when this journey came to an end. A fantastic experience.

We had such a great time with challenge wales and their crew! They really got us all involved in sailing. Vicky was amazing in helping to organise this trip, making us all feel welcome and relaxed!

Would definitely recommend and come again!

Two weeks of sailing with Challenge Wales as part of the Tall Ships Races 2017 was one of the best experiences I've ever had! We sailed from Halmstad (Sweden) through the Baltic Sea to Tallinn (Estonia) and finally to Kotka in Finland. The crew were very welcoming and taught a lot about how to sail. I highly recommend to anyone that is looking for an adventure and keen to gain sailing experience at the same time.

An amazing trip with a brilliant crew. Challenge Wales really did provide a fantastic experience and got us all involved with the sailing. Lundy island is a must see and what better way to visit than by dropping anchor and then being transported by rhib to the mainland. Thank you!

A fabulous day's sail in the Bristol Channel aboard Challenge Wales, shooting through the waves on a good wind at some speed, guided by the experienced crew! Certainly got the blood pumping - and a lovely lunch provided as well :) Thank you - hope to go again soon!

A long held ambition of mine had always been to learn to sail but waiting lists were long and costs expensive! Now I'm a volunteer on a 22 meter Round the World yacht and regularly sail, with other crew members, on Wales' largest sail training vessel! :-)

The Challenge Wales charity serves to provide young people (12-25) with life skills and training through the experience of sailing. So, as well as satisfying my sailing ambition, I also get real satisfaction from the enthusiasm generated in the young people I have sailed with; especially true of those who may have been quite 'reserved', when boarding the boat, at the start of a voyage.

Challenge Wales provides a unique opportunity to experience the exhilaration, team work and camaraderie of BIG boat sailing and it doesn't have to be a once in a lifetime opportunity if you become a volunteer? :-)

We are part of an island nation and the sea is in our genes. Challenge Wales provides an unique opportunity to experience BIG boat sailing and to get a feel for what it would be like to sail around the world. A minimal commitment is required in time and cost to feel the excitement of being part of a team, ready to meet any challenge provided by the elements. And all in aid of valuable charity.

Challenge Wales provides the opportuity for young people to experience new sensations and develop new skills and responsibilites working with others in sailing a 72' racing yacht which has been around the world twice. It also provides opportunities for older folk (like me) to do something new. Having experienced the thrill and camaraderie of working with experienced volunteers I joined as a volunteer myself.

Having a sound boat, a brilliant skipper and a keen volunteer crew to look after you this can lead to a great day out or the oppotunity to take part in longer 3 or 5-day trips.

Even for non-sailors this is an opportunity not to be missed. Give it a go!
