What's it like inside? I have no idea because I could not get in. I had a devil of a time finding it only to get no response when knocking on the door. It was very disappointing but these things happen. The times on the door indicated that it was open - lights were on but nothing. Perhaps the person in charge had to run an errand but there was no sign indicating this. I could not return later so I missed out. I would suggest calling first.

They give you a tour and elaborates on what happened the night the Rhythm Night Club caught on fire. They had a dance there and there was one way in and one way out. It was all decorated with Moss something sparked the dry moss causing the fire and because of the one way in and the large crowd people fell over one another trying to get out unsuccessfully and a lot of lives was perished. So sad. But the great part of the story is that my mom wanted to go to that dance that night and her parents would not let her go and I have her here wit h me today.

My wife and my visit to the museum had a very special heartfelt meaning to me. My uncle Walter Barnes was the bandleader who died in the fire. Mr. Sago the proprietor of the museum did a very good providing the history of the fire and the impact it had on families of the survivors and deceased as well as the community. It was a great learning experience. The museum is a true monument to the hundreds of people who died in the horrific fire. Mr. Sago was very compassionate in his delivery of the tour. He intends to add on to the museum to provide a broader view of the of the evolution of the Night Club.
