We did not pay for the tour, and it maybe helpful when visiting, however we still enjoyed the day. We started the day entering via the Tunnels, we then visited the Archeological area here I think a guide would have been beneficial. Then we climbed up the church where we admired the view.

This is the largest pyramid in the New World. and probably the highlight of any visit to Cholula. There are three pyramids built one on top of the other and topped off with the Our Lady of Remedies church. Much of the pyramid is still buried in the hill and only the bottom part has been reconstructed. You can go up a steep hill to see the church but you will not see any part of the pyramid. The tunnels of the pyramid, which are partially excavated, are closed due to Covid.

my trip to Piramide de Cholula was fantastic i went with my family and we really enjoyed it. We have traveled to other places but Cholula is the one of the most incredible and natural place we've been. We could seen the piramids and all city on top of the piramid. On the other hand one bad thing was the people because there are too many people. that's something bad but it is imposible to aware peopleto avoid these activities. In conclusion it was awesome and considerably cheap.

This is one of the largest pyramids in size. It is mainly unexcavated so mostly looks like a hill with vegetation and a pretty church on the top. It is very old and complex since it was built in consecutive layers. It is right in the town of Cholula. It is easy to get to. There are many other things to do nearby.

First things first - the tunnels underneath the pyramid are currently closed, so don't go there expecting to Indiana Jones your way underneath as we did. With that said, it's still an interesting experience that isn't as famous and generic as some of the other landmarks you might have on your Mexico list. We hired a guide, with limited results, as his English was spotty at best. However, what did come through was interesting, and provided context we never would have had just walking around.

Be sure to walk to the top for the view of Popocatépetl Volcano, which is your classic cone volcano with the smoking crater at the top. Parking is 50 pesos nearby.

To get to Cholula from Puebla I got a local bus. It was very easy even if you don't speak Spanish. The buses leave from 6 Poniente between 11 and 13 Norte. It was marked clearly on the tourist map. The bus itself has 'Cholula' written on the windscreen. The fare was 7.50pesos each way and dropped off at the entry to the pyramids. You can't miss it. (But if you can... ask the driver)

You can walk up to the top to the cathedral to get an amazing view of the volcano and Cholula. You can access this without paying the admission fee.

The ruins are quite unique as they have a cathedral built on top of them. The entry fee was 48 pesos.

After buying your ticket you can walk through the underground tunnels. They are probably around 3 feet wide and 6 feet high (but with an arched ceiling so tall people beware). It was a bit unpleasant to be in there with a crowd so time your entry to avoid a tour group. I managed to let a group pass and have the tunnels to myself.

After the tunnels you can walk around the ruins outside which is quite a nice view. There are some Spanish and English signs around though not especially informative. Guides are available for a fee. Up to you.

Cholula is also a nice town to walk around have lunch, shop, look at buildings etc.

To get back to Puebla the bus left from outside the pyramids again. Just make sure you get one that says 'Centro' to go to the centre of Puebla as some only go to the outer suburbs. Staff at the pyramid ticket both would help if you were stuck.

The whole complex is large, with the smaller pyramids and "roads", the climb to the top of the mountain (which used to be the top of the pyramid), where the Church is. It takes some physical level to do it all. The highlight is going inside the large pyramid. Seeing the tunnels, which are very narrow and dark. NOTE: Be aware if you are claustrophobic. They don't warn you of this when you buy the tickets. But when we were inside two different people had to be rushed outside as they were starting to go into panic attacks.

Honestly i am not sure it is worth the visit ; with the Mxp 52 ticket you get access to
- the tunnel inside the pyramid : not especially interesting , these are modern tunnels caved by archeologist , no artefacts , no paintings to be seen .
-The small museum with a scale model of the archeological zone and a few objects from the pyramid . Nice but very , very simple if compared with the Plaza mayor museum in Mexico city
- a vist to the zone of the altars , impressive by its size but again no paintings , no artefacts , a few big stones ..
I have a feeling a good walk on both sides of the hill which covers the pyramid gives you almost the same benefits plus a fantastic view ,for free and open anytime

Truly unnecessary, not that great, not quite a pyramid. Poblanos may hate me for this, but it's not worth it. On the bright side, restaurants and most of The food around the pyramid is awesome!

Trip Advisor has incorrect open/close times!
I went on a Sunday, only to find that they're closed Sunday and Monday.

Perhaps they scaled back their tourism due to Covid, but it's been a while if they did and the hours still show open 7 days a week on TripAdivsor.
