Sheepworld is New Zealand’s Sheep and Wool Centre. In twice-daily live demonstrations the dogs round up and bring in the sheep, which are then sorted and shorn. Our Wonderful Wool multimedia exhibition then explains how the fleece is turned into an amazing variety of products, many of which are on sale in our store. There’s also an eco-discovery stroll through native bush, a natural adventure playground, a farmyard full of animals and an on-site cafe. Suitable for all ages.

Very interesting show with some amazing insights to real NZ and our heritage. The farmer/showman reminded me of time I spent as a young lad on my uncles farm. Being a towny I was in awe of his skill, strength, understated matter of factness and the humour, he was a superhero. Fabulous and a must see for everyone that is... More

Visited sheep world with a school trip & yes although it was a great place it is very expensive & the show was completely inappropriate for the 5 year olds on their class trip. Save the politics & the genitalia talk for those that want or need to hear it

Hi RossB. We are very pleased to hear that you think Sheepworld is a great place, thank you for visiting. We are disappointed and surprised though to hear that you feel it is expensive. Our own research indicates that we are less expensive than most comparable attractions and represent very good value for money as a leisure activity. A family... More

Stopped in with a friend from overseas who has never been up close with farm animals and surprised myself by having a great time too. We paid for the full experience - feeding all the animals and petting some in their enclosures then watched John and his sheep dogs round up the sheep. Audience members participated in sorting sheep -... More

I didn't expect to have so much fun at this spot. Definitely worth attending the show (check hours, it's done two or three times a day only) to see shepard dogs in action as well as sheep shearer afterwards. You are also provided with lots of interesting information during both shows. Mini-zoo, big gift shop & cafe (with free WiFi)... More

We had an amazing time at sheep world. Buying a $1 bag of feed really heightens the fun and presents lots of great photo opportunities. The sheep and dog show was really fun and I enjoyed the learning experience. Would have loved to purchase a souvenir but found the gift shop expensive. Bring bug spray. We had our feet and... More

Took our two 4yr old grandchildren here on a bright sunny day. Must confess that the thought of going to "Sheepworld" didn't fill me with a feel good factor. But oh I wrong could I be. Because it was the twins 4th birthday only a couple of days before the lady said not only could they go in for nothing,... More

My adult daughter and I took my 3 Grandkids up to Sheepworld for the day yesterday. What a brilliant show they put on - we arrived in time to have morning tea before the 11am showtime. The man putting on the show really knows his stuff (all about sheep and their wool, shearing, sheep dogs etc.) He is really amusing... More

I never thought sheep could be so interesting! We absolutely loved the sheep and do show. Dave was a great entertainer and so knowledgable. We only had about 15 people at the show we attended and it was a great size as we were able to get involved with the shearing, sorting sheep and feeding the lambs. There is more... More
