We really enjoyed the hot pools and it was nice to relax and get out of our hostel as unfortunately it rained the whole time we were in Franz Josef. The pools are spacious with lots of greenery around them. I would recommend a visit....More

We stopped in after driving from Queenstown through endless rain. The pools were lovely but quite busy. The lockers by the pool side were wet so it was difficult to keep stuff close by I would recommend a locker inside - you need 2 dollars...More

Really enjoyed the pools. There are 3 pools which are 36, 38 and 40 degrees. We went in the rain which meant it was freezing walking around the pools and the rain did get into the pools through the protection above from the sails. Also...More

Amazing!!! My husband and I had massages. Mine a relaxation one and my husbands a deep tissue. Both were gorgeous!! Filled by time in the hot pools which although busy were still very relaxing. Perfect for a rainy day.More

We went to the hot springs after a long day out. Although there were a lot of people around it did not seem crowded. They were relaxing and warm after a cold day out and about. If you have time worth a visit.

no booking required for hot pools. if that what you mean by spa. Apr should be fairly a non peak so may not be required

I couldn't smell chlorine and went under water a lot with no problem.
