    Extremely disappointed this evening!!!
Feel extremely disappointed and embarrassed this evening. Had friends round for pie and pies. Normally buy at least once a week and have found them to be amazing. Unfortunately this evening had 3 steak pies and wasn’t enough for 4 adults. Normally 1 pie serves 3 people So glad I bought extra just to be over endulgent!!! But was so disappointed Iv been raving to customers at work how amazing these pies are Don’t change the pies just up the price!!! If necessary The filling was less than adequate which I can’t believe I’m saying about these pies!! PLEASE resume your normal standards
We're so sorry to hear of your disappointment with our pies. I'm sure you will recognise that we do pride ourselves in the quality of our products. I have spoken to our bake room staff who assure me there has been no conscious change to the quality/quantity of our pies. We really can't understand how this can have occurred and I can reassure you that our normal high standards will be maintained. John H Compliance Manager

    Very wet but enjoyable day
Brilliant day at the farm although I must have picked the wettest day to visit As a disabled visitor I found very few places I couldn’t go which was great. Possibly look at being able to get up on the ramp at the round house as my only disappointment was not being able to see Cannonball and Forever Amber as I have been following them for ages. But everything else was amazing the highlands actually all the animals even managed to get down to the other Shires the rain didn’t put me of at all. The restaurant was beautiful also the staff so helpful, food well got to give it 5 stars and the farm shop was great lovely to walk round in person also got to meet Farmer Richard and had a wee chat which was lovely. Well done all a great day out for all

    Truly sensational
This place is truly amazing, I/we love it. My sister and I brought our boys 12yrs and 9mths to the Pumpkin Festival, although a wet day it didn't spoil our fun. Everyone was friendly and cheerful as always, with lots of jokes and banter, Darryl on the animal talks was full of knowledge, he is sensational and his Shire Horse talk which lead into the Reindeers was comical not sure we should of been laughing that much really. My sisters ticket 917 won the Ferret race, fluke hey! We loved it thank you, can't wait till our next visit... Anna and Callum 12yrs, Jemima and Boston 9mths - Cambridge

Christmas afternoon tea. Perfect place for anyone with dogs who likes good service, good food and drinks.
Lucky pup dog friendly cafe. Just had a fantastic Christmas afternoon tea with friends and our dogs. Fabulous service, fabulous staff and the food was deeeelicious. Afternoon tea with Xmas cake, mince pies, cranberry and Brie sandwich, turkey and stuffing, crunchy chips and some festive quiche and pork pie. Good mugs of tea and the dogs even get their own Xmas treats. Love this cafe it is so dog friendly, it's large area and the tables are well spaced out for dogs, there's always plenty on clean water for them and nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. All the cakes are fresh and tasty with good coffees.

    Amazing Christmas Experience
We visited Cannon Hall Farm to attend the Santa Show. The whole farm was well kept, clean and all the staff were really friendly. The Santa show was funny and entertaining and children were invited to choose a gift from Santa’s workshop afterwards. What a magical experience. Each child passed through a naughty/nice detector and loved watching it turn to nice. The kids played on the outdoor adventure playground, on the indoor soft play and fed all the animals. What a relaxing and lovely day together. Big shout out to the lady in Hungry Lamas who puts the call out for the Santa Show, she was brilliant. Thank you so much cannon hall farm. We will come again next year.

Decided to have a spur of the moment day out with the family and ended up at cannon hall farm. After paying £3 to park and £67.85 entrance fee for 2 adults and 5 kids which I think is pretty steep we were in... Once inside it’s all rather basic farmyard animals (sheep, pigs, goats, etc) which is understandable being a farm. There are a couple of snakes and other exotic animals but not extensive. Outdoor play area looks good but useless on a drizzly mid February day. After a little walk around we had pretty much seen everything there was to see (would recommend the lambing talk under the tented area) we decided to go inside the children’s play area/cafe to get away from the rain. Unfortunately so did everyone else. It was pandemonium. Eventually we got seated and ordered food. 4 children’s burger meals, 1 children’s chicken nugget meal, 2 portions of chips and cheese, 2 regular cokes and a jug of squash came to just over £40 which once again I feel is rather expensive given that the food was less than that of an average cafeteria and being charged an extra £1.50 each for a small sprinkling of cheese on top of some chips already charged over £2 per small portion. The waitress was in such a rush to serve us she just lined all 7 plates on the table without bothering to ask who had ordered which meal and walked off. The kids seemed to enjoy the play area which I suppose is the saving grace of the day. To be honest we found the place underwhelming and expensive. I’m not sure we will be visiting again given the overall cost and our experience today.

Theres no doubt that this is a nice place however, managment have got too big headed and do not care for their customers feedback. The owners clearly have got too big for their boots after all their popularity and could not care less about what you think of your experience.

My son loves the soft play here and we visit loads however, there is a deal that says three pounds per person after 3.30 pm until 6.30 pm - this is ideal for us and we used to love to come at least once a week. But the manager of the soft play starts to get aggitated at around 5.45 pm is and tries to make every one feel uncomfortable to make them leave. First he starts by turning the music off, then starts banging chairs about. Then as time went on he started to shout to everyone at 6.15 that we must start to put our shoes on as we need to be out for 6.30pm! Myself and another mum confronted him and said no the deal is that you are advertising our kids can play while 6.30pm! I kept calling the management about this and it just kept happening until finally the manager actually threw us out at 6.20pm and made us put our shoes on outside and closed the door on us! I called the next day and advised management of this they were sorry but again no call back to give me feedback as to how this would change - that is poor management and cannon hall you are getting very big for your boots and no bussiness is immune to failure im afraid! Please be clear are you open while 6.30 pm or not???

The farm shop prices go up quicker than the rate of inflation! I shop alot there and Carol knows me and my family from shopping in there. I suspect that you put your prices up in the covid crisis also - quite dissapointing!

We are very sorry to hear that you are so disappointed and that you felt pushed out of the soft play. Our soft play (when open) is indeed open until 6.30pm but that is literally the time we close the doors. At that time, there's usually very very few customers in there, which means our team do tidy up where possible so that they can get home at a reasonable time. The Hungry Llama soft play holds hundreds of customers throughout the day and cleanup is not insubstantial - they usually begin doing this at around 5.15pm. We are sorry if that made you uncomfortable and I shall be sure to pass on the feedback. As for our farm shop, again, we try very hard to source and supply both local and artisan products - and as such these have fluctuating prices as we do not have the buying power of major supermarkets. Indeed, we have noticed the price of fruit and vegetables has increased for us from our supplier, because we simply aren't in the same league as supermarkets to have remotely near the same buying power. We try our very best for our customers, so I'm sorry you feel we are 'too big to our boots.' At a difficult time like this, we recognise no business is immune to failure, as we always have, but can assure you our customers and our staff are our top priority. On a final note, the £3 after 3.30pm admission is what we call a 'loss leader.' We make no income from it. By the time we've paid taxes, staff wages, electricity, heating for the number of people who take us up on it (never been more than 100 in a day) it isn't a sound business decision to offer - however we still do it to give the families who may not be able to afford to visit for a full day the chance to experience the farm.

I expected things wouldn't be the same on reopening after Covid but honestly, does the food have to drop to a standard where it is uneatable? We would normally eat at The White Bull but our grandson wanted to go to the Hungry Llama indoor play area so we said we would eat in there the menu was a basic menu but items on it were the same as the main restaurant so we decided to eat there. BIG MISTAKE. We were not told at the entrance the play area would not be opened nor was there a sign outside but as we were seated we decided to order. I had the hot roast beef and onion sandwich, i could have used the beef to sole my shoes and it was lukewarm the chips were greasy and insipid and they are normally beautiful. My husband had hot roast pork which looked akin to stewed chicken and was tasteless. The worst was our grandson's meal, I am sure if I had let him eat it would have made him ill ! He ordered chicken nuggets chips and beans, again the chips were insipid and greasy, the beans were of a dark brown reheated forty times nature and the chicken nuggets were clap cold. With tea and a fruit drink this little load of swill came to £30.00. I complained to the only member of staff in the room (there was literally no one else there or at the counter) and told him the food was uneatable he gave me a look of disdain and disappeared into the back kitchen area. I was left sat thinking a more senior member of staff would come out to see us. After a few minutes i went to the counter and shouted but no one appeared the place was absolutely unattended and unsurprisingly we were the only customers. What a let down. The whole visit was rubbish, there were hardly any staff in the farm area the ones that were there were not much older than 16 there was no one in the animal sheds to explain the rearing processes the ferret and sheep races we were promised didn't happen and social distancing in the reptile house was a joke and again no staff to supervise. The only animated member of staff we came across was a girl at the ice cream stall and when I say animated i mean rude and aggressive to our six year old, she snapped at him not to touch the plastic shield but the only way he could see what he wanted was to put his hands on it to lever himself up my husband had to pick him up to choose, when he asked for raspberry sauce and sprinkles she again snapped there wasn't any. The total cost of this little disastrous trip including entrance, the horrid meal and Ice cream came to £78 we were there for three hours and spent most of the time in the outside play area in the rain!!! Wondering why the hell we had bothered. My advice - avoid at all costs.

I'm deeply disappointed to read this review and to be honest I expect a little more understanding from customers as to why we are opening with so many restrictions in place. The most important of those reasons being to protect customers and staff. Our website clearly states exactly what is and isn't open and you have to go through that page to book. We told you that things would be different and that the indoor play area wouldn't be open on that page and I'm astonished that you expected it to be. No indoor play areas in the whole country are open so it shouldn't have been a surprise to you that it was closed. Lots of extra staff are on site monitoring areas to ensure social distancing. There are very good reasons why all the races and talks are not taking place and you were told they wouldn't be on the page where you booked. We are carefully following government advice and want people to be well spaced out around the site, not gathered together watching an activity or talk. I am sorry you were disappointed with your food. It is something we very much pride ourselves on and complaints are very rare. We do try to use local potatoes and there are occasions at this time of year when the quality of potatoes can be variable. I have fed back your comments to our kitchen and I'm surprised that all your food should be poor quality as complaints really are very infrequent. It seems you've visited before and been happy with your experience so I'm disappointed you've chosen this route to express your dissatisfaction before contacting us to see if we could help to put things right. While things have undoubtedly changed we are still receiving a really high level of positive feedback about the customer experience and I'm sorry you didn't share the positive experience that so many others have.

Took kids out on a home schooling project and boy were they disappointed with lack of animals...plenty of pigs, sheep and cows but you cannot get close to them to interact in anyway.

The staff were all friendly and helpful and social distancing and routes were followed by most attending but we did see people flouting the rules and ignoring floor markings ( nowt you can do about it as fools be fools no matter where they are).

To improve this place just make it more interactive. Need more indoor activities when weather is not great.
I live near a farm and see more animals there and as a result it didn’t feel value for money especially when it rained and the climbing frames are pretty much dangerous in the rain. I don’t usually moan about value for money but when you see the prices for entry and what’s on offer : The indoor kids play area near the cafe is closed but surely the whole place and experience can be improved. The kids enjoyed looking at the animals and were disappointed that there was no interaction and you couldn’t even get close to the animals as there were barriers in front of the fencing that keeps the animals in their areas which I’ve never seen before.

Their is an indoor eating area which is large for those bringing their own food. Car park is pretty big and not too bad for £3 but when you fathom in the limited experience and interaction it’s not really worth frequenting unless you live close by. Next time it’s Chester Zoo again for us...whenever I can get a booking in for that place only God knows.

Overall not for me but some may enjoy it as it maybe ok for kids under ten who can be mesmerised by a handful of pigs and cows. Older kids and adults may get bored real quick. Coffee wasn’t bad though but still not a place for me.

Waste of a 45 minute drive. Got a voucher to attend so turned up prepared to book online but needed guidance on how to use the voucher. Told when we got there they are not accepting any vouchers at all. To avoiding disappointing the kids paid the £36 to get in go find majority of it closed. No tractor rides, no animal feeding or petting. The indoor play areas closed. Rediculous queues to get into the cafes, ice cream stalls completely sold out of 90% of the menu. Once in the park you cant leave so if you need to pop back to the car for change of clothes etc for little ones you need to carry everything with you. A very disappointing visit. Won't be returning again or recommending.
GIVE IT A MISS while covid is on as its an overall expensive trip to play on outdoor equipment as there's not much else to do inside.

We are very sad to read this review - especially as we have worked super hard to make our site as safe as possible. Our Facebook and social media channels are very complimentary about the measures we have put in place to protect our visitors. Sadly ,in the midst of a global pandemic, we cannot just continue as usual. Like many tourism businesses we have had to adapt - but we have been absolutely clear with our customers every step of the way. We have to be open to prebooked tickets only due to track and trace requirements - had you inquired with us in advance of your visit to answer your need for guidance on how to use a voucher, we would have absolutely referred you to all our opening policies. I feel it is unfair of you to be so strident in your disappointment when you gave us no opportunity to correct your assumptions before you visited. As an aside, we are not 80 per cent closed. Every single animal barn is open, as is all our restaurants and our cafes. All our outdoor playgrounds are open apart from one. Our reptile house is open. We are not running our tractor ride because it is impossible to maintain social distancing upon there. We have not opened our soft play, because again, visitor safety is at the forefront of our mind. If you'd only clicked on our website - you would see very clearly outlined exactly what our offer is.

I don't often leave reviews but my experience this weekend and lack of care from staff over concerns has left me disappointed. I feel others should know so they can make up their own minds.
This was our first visit to canon hall farm and I have to agree with others that it is very overpriced for what is open. The only things open are to walk around the barns and see animals at a distance and the lizard house. I have an adventurous little girl who is too young/ short for the large outdoor play area and too grown up to be interested in the toddler one so the day out ended up costing £30 for entry for what was really around about a 30/ 60 min walk. This isn't made clear on the website and it sounds like there is still lots to do. Having said that if you have a tall 6 year old the adventure playground looks great. The lady on the lizard house seemed really enthusiastic about her job and tried to engage with our little one to show her what was happening with the ants.

We have been to other cheaper farms in the area and have had a much more immersive experience. I must admit I felt a bit "mugged" by the cost for what was available and being charged extra for parking.

I wouldn't have left a review just for the cost though I understand times are difficult and companies have missed out on large periods of revenue. It felt overpriced and I just wouldn't have returned in the future as there is better out there if that had been my only concern.

My biggest concern was the white bull which is not following covid guidelines and left me feeling fairly anxious so we decided to leave. We had not been able to get an ice cream in the park for our child so we said we would buy her a cake at the white bull. When queuing to sign in we had numerous people pushing past us to get in and out in a free for all. The table we were taken to was dirty and hadn't been wiped so obviously not sanitised. We are supposed to be socially distancing with spaces left between tables. No allowances had been made or I would hate to see the place in normal times if they had. I was unable to even pull my chair out because the table next to us was so close. All inside venues are supposed to be table service only but before even sitting we were told we would have to join an unruly queue up at the counter to order. There was no distancing and very little mask wearing and no encouragement to do either, like markings on the floor to know where to stand. When I mentioned to the staff about the table not being clean he just shrugged his shoulders and asked if I wanted someone to come over to wipe it. Instead we decided to leave and baked at home instead as there was still so much of the day left.

I'm sure my concerns will be washed over like the other replies I have seen but hopefully some feedback will be taken on board

Visited today at a cost of £29.85 for 3 tickets for my 5 year old, mum and myself. We booked in for 10:15 and paid our £3 parking fee for both vehicles as we were meeting here. We went to the hungry llama play area for just over an hour and bought drinks (over £6 for 2 coffees). This was extremely busy due to awful weather, the upstairs seating was closed and there wasn’t enough tables or chairs for the amount of people who had paid to be there. After about an hour we left to have lunch at the White Bull restaurant (another £25 spent).

By this time it was about 12:15 and my son wanted to go back to the indoor play area. We walked back into the farm the weather was atrocious, it was raining very heavily where we saw a queue reaching from the play area to the reptile house which also had a massive queue outside. After waiting for a while with the queue not moving we were absolutely drenched and left.

So in total we spent about £70 for 2 hours, not great tbh. I understand that businesses need to try and claw their money back after such an awful 18 months but as regular customers we won’t be returning as they were just too many people here for the facilities on offer when the weather is bad. Such a shame as it just felt like they had over booked.

Me along with my partner and 18 month old visited today, were from a farming background and loved watching the farm on tv so we thought we would visit. We weren’t disappointed with the animals as they were so well kept and there was lots to look at. However, at the end of our visit we decided to have a bite to eat in the White Bull restaurant, we arrived maybe 25 past 4, seated and handed a menu; we then decided what to eat and go up to order to then be rudely informed ‘we’re not serving food’ I was totally baffled as I was politely appointed a table by a member of staff and handed a menu, to then be told we can’t eat? I then approached the young man who greeted us on arrival and he apologised. I can’t help but be very disappointed as why on earth wasn’t we informed on our arrival? Or why was we informed we were welcomed to hot drinks and cake but not the full menu?

This was very disappointing and I couldn’t help but comment as I found the young girl behind the till very rude and abrupt. I think maybe they need some additional training in manners.

We are very sorry to hear this - and this is absolutely not the level of service we would hope our customers experience. We fully agree that you should have been told before being seated that we were serving only drinks at that time. We have mentioned it to our catering team who will be addressing this as a matter of priority.

For the last 18 years I have visited with my children, more recently with my youngest. We have been yearly to the pumpkin festival and also to the superhero afternoon tea event. Every time has been fantastic from the races to the playarea.

More recently I have been watching the daily Facebook broadcasts from the farm, these have been so uplifting at a much needed time. I can highly recommend the live broadcasts and visiting the farm once the farm reopens to the public.

This farm is a little gem and well worth the 4 hr road trip that we did, to get here today. This was our first visit to Cannon Hall Farm.
The farm has just reopened after lockdown and has just started to allow visitors to return again, while restricting numbers to the farm, to safely allow for social distancing measures to be achieved. There are plenty of hand sanitising stations around the farm and they ask you to use the sanitizers before entering an enclosed space such the restaurants and farm shop. They also take details of those entering their restaurant spaces, to enable track and trace. We ate in the Hungry Llama and it was very clean and spacious between tables. Currently, the indoor play areas are out of use due to government guidelines with Covid-19, but there was plenty of outdoor play areas for children.
The farm is a good size; exceptionally clean with a large number of farm animals, including Meerkats and Reptile House. We were lucky to arrive on a day when Crocus the Donkey had given birth to a newborn foal only 7 hrs previous...Just gorgeous!
We’ve been following Cannon Hall Farm throughout lockdown, where Farmers Rob and Dave, have been doing live Facebook feeds everyday, and also on This Week on the Farm, on Channel 5. We just had to come and see the Farm now it is back in action... and it didn’t disappoint! Well done to all at Cannon Hall Farm, we will be back!
