We drove, drove, and drove to find a picnic area. The place we finally found was closed. We ended up parking a distance from the closed picnic area and carried our food to a picnic table. The area was beautiful if it had been mowed and cared for. While we were there, other people were doing the same thing that... More

Putting in the toll booth and closing it down at 10:00 PM is the best thing to ever happen for Millcreek Canyon and those of us that love it so much. Although there are lots of improved picnic spots it remains relatively quiet and peaceful, most of the time, but especially in the mornings. The fees collected help keep the... More

Odd days are dog days. Dogs are allowed off leash! Parking can be an issue because this canyon is popular.

My cousins who live in SLC recommended this hike. We did the desolation trail which was a very short hike but really lovely. A bit difficult in several parts and turns due to snow and we didn't have chains under our shoes so we were sliding a bit but we enjoyed the hike thoroughly. The paths are very narrow so... More

I went running/jogging here one evening at sunset and it was really beautiful. Quiet, serene, great views of the mountains and greater Salt Lake.

20 minutes from down town Salt Lake city. Easy drive. Seem to us sea level types that we gained a lot of altitude. Lots of opportunities for different hikes and trails. We were pretty late in the season so the colors were incredible. We did no research a head of time and just wanted a quick hike before heading to... More

Millcreek has great sites for picnics and a lot of great hikes. You pay $3 per vehicle on the way out of the canyon. You can bring your odd dog into the canyon on odd days! Grandeur peak is a classic hike that is moderate and can get pretty hot in the summer as it is entirely on the south... More

This gem is getting more crowded because people are finding out about it. There are numerous scenic hikes and picnic spots throughout the canyon. Go on a weekday and you will miss the crowds. Check online for hikes info. There is a minimal charge upon exiting the canyon.
