Big Cottonwood Canyon is a wonderful place to visit in all seasons of the year. Great skiing and winter sports. Beautiful mountain flowers in the Spring. An escape from the heat in the summer with fun hikes. Colorful trees and shrubs in the Fall.

Would hate to drive this canyon during the winter if drivers were as crazy then as w hen we visited. Very tight curves, roadside parking, pedestrians, and crazy drivers made this a less than enjoyable trip. The scenery is wonderful, but you wonder if people...More

With plenty of hiking routes and it's wonderful sights, the Big Cottonwood Canyon is a must-visit if you are around in my opinion. It offers hikes from very beginner level to hiking veterans.

God's great gifts make this canyon amazing and unique. Looks like its straight out of a Disney Movie of Magic! Hike or Bike, sit and view

The granite cliffs and fall foliage with running streams makes this a perfect place to relax and take photos. Climbers, bikes, hikers and just strollers enjoy the elevations.

We were traveling back from a disappointing stop at Snowbird when we saw the signs for the canyon. A quick turn up the mountain and we were amazed by the views. This is truly a beautiful place. There are places to park and hike, but...More

It was a little chilly out, but my family and i had fun, it was beatiful, we also rented nearby so it made it easier to get there, the only inconvenience is how far out it is from downtown salt lake.

This is a nice easy mountain drive starting about 15 miles from downtown Salt Lake City. Very scenic with ski resorts at the upper end of the drive. We are from Florida and on September 20 saw snow on the ground, amazing.

I'd say the hike is moderate. It has sections that are a pretty good climb, and is between 7.5 and 8 miles round trip, but it is a well travelled trail. It is also a little higher in elevation, but it is beautiful. In Big... More

Great Idea: My recommendation is to drive up to Silver Lake first. It is not only convenient, but also popular (was there last Sunday... lots of people)! If you go during a week day, it should be less crowded. To relax... More
