Salt Lake City was, apparently, a key hub for the pony express....and it probably played an important communications role for the area during it short time in 'business.' Neat monument.

The sculptor has caught the vision of a pony express rider. The rider's expression, his position, and the horse's movement all display the message that the participants and the animals help you understand the importance of the speed necessary for the movement of the mail...More

The monument is an impressive sculpture, and the descriptive panels provide a good history of the pony express. There’s even a small cabin and corral to let viewers understand the living and working conditions of both animals and riders, and the isolated location recaptures the...More

This small but well-done and informative monument is one of several that sits along the driveway leading up to This is the Place Heritage Park. It's definitely worth a few minutes of your time to stop on your way to the park and read about...More

Had some time to kill so managed to find this park & was a bit surprised that this statue was not the only one here. The Pony Express monument is a fantastic sculpture & worth checking out.

If you drive out just for this I think you might be disappointed, but if you are visiting Heritage Park before or after this visit it is worth the drive. There is a pony express station here on the grounds also, which is nice.

Listing this place as the Pony Express Monument doesn’t give it nearly the amount of credit it deserves. I truly thought I was going to go here and see one statue and then be on my merry way. In addition, the one person we asked...More
