Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a beautiful building inside and out. Very much worth a stop. I am not religious at all but appreciated the building architecture and stained glass window artwork. Also a great place to escape the heat for a few moments.

The artwork and glass windows are just amazing. It was very quiet inside the cathedral and no tourist. I could spend time alone in prayer and just admire the beauty of this Cathedral. It is immaculately clean and well kept. A wonderful and holy place.

Based on information from the Utah Office of Tourism (300 North State Street, SLC), we drove down the hill to South Temple Street for a quick visit to the Cathedral of the Madeleine. Beautiful stained glass, quiet time, interesting organ. Being Ash Wednesday the church was open and getting ready for services. We found parking on the side street easily. Would work this in with the self guided tour down South Temple Street as suggested by the tourism office, next time!

This is a beautiful place filled with religious art work and wonderful architecture. We enjoyed sitting in the quiet peaceful beautiful during our vacation to Salt Lake City. This is a must see sight if you are visiting the area. It is near the state capitol building.

We just love visiting churches and as a Roman Catholic we just had to see this one. It is so beautiful inside and out. The details and colors areamazing. I wish I was in town for Sunday mass. They just don’t make churches like this inside anymore.

This is a very lovely place. It is a very active church so please be polite and quiet. The day I visited they were taking confessions and there was a line of people. The church is beautiful inside. I wasn't lucky enough to be there on a day that the organ was playing but I would love to hear it. Street parking around the building is ample and free.

I try to make it there every year. It is really beautiful whether you are Catholic or not. Amazing paintings. Plenty of seating.

You don't have to be Catholic to experience awe as you visit the Cathedral. Worth a visit again and again. The architecture - from alter to lighting - is beautifully and classically unique. Enjoy leisurely close viewing of the paintings and statues. Sit and meditate in a peaceful bench. Light a candle in memory of a loved one. If in a wheel chair or you have difficulty walking, park in the back and use the elevator as the front entrance is beautiful but includes steep stairs. Call in advance to find out times it is open to the public, special musical events are planned, as well as services.

What a sight to behold! I loved touring this cathedral. It was unlike so many other Catholic churches I have toured both in the U.S., Mexico and in Europe. It had a distinct Mexican theme with bright colors which totally amazed me. You will be pleasantly surprised no matter your religion of choice. Don't miss this one!

When visiting Salt Lake City people always mention the Mormon buildings and for some reason this cathedral also. We visited the Mormon locations then went here. I can tell you as a Catholic this place was very disappointing. It was old, somewhat maintained and you were on your own as far as trying to learn about the place. The Mormon locations had many people to answer any questions you had about the buildings, religion or whatever. The Catholic cathedral? Not one person. It's a shame since the place looks like it has a lot to offer and could be very interesting if there was somebody there to tell you about it.
