Boca Chica State Park is a stretch of beach along the Gulf of Mexico about 22 miles east of Brownsville Texas. There are no facilities or improvements. Many people go there to hunt for shells, fish, picnic and sit in the sun in the wintertime. I have only been there in the winter and the water is too cold for... More

driving is permissible on the beach, don't get caught by the tide. SpaceX is building a facility there, so some access may be restricted soon. Really big waves when the wind is up.

Saw a map listing for this state park and decided to check it out. It is a beach on the gulf coast and that is pretty much it. It was very uncrowded (we were there at the end of the January), but there are not bathrooms or other facilities. We were there to see birds and there were not many... More

This was a great beach. There were hardly any people on it...just a few fishermen. We first drove in the beach about a mile to the mouth of the Rio Grande to see where the river enters the gulf. This is the boarder with Mexico so if you are into boarders it is fun the see. There were a couple... More

Stayed for 2 nights and loved every minute of my mini boondock. Quiet, private and relaxing would punctuate my stay. Say yes to great temperatures, yes to free security by BP and yes to powdery sand.

I was a little worried there would be a lot of people here. Hardly a soul. Very little trash that I saw. Beautiful warm water, many small shells. Very happy to have found this beautiful place of nature. I hope to return here soon

We drove from the entrance up to the jetty on labor day weekend and it was not crowded like it can get on South Padre Island.

It's a beautiful beach with lots of shells. But it's so sad that people leave trash and no one monitors it to pick it up.. please clean it

Definitely worth the drive! This beach has everything that South Padre Island has, except the crowds. And, the cost was completely free. Also, cars back right up to the water, so the occasional traffic is behind the car, not between the beach and the car, as on S. Padre Island. We had neighbors, but they were far enough away to...
