I have nothing but warm things to say. My family and I toured the Bisti Badlands with Kialo. We walked for five hours in the wilderness and barely noticed the time passing. There are no trails in the badlands; without a guide we would have gotten hopelessly lost. Kialo showed us the way, told us about the geology and geography of the area, regaled us with Navajo stories, and generally ensured we had a good time. The badlands are worth the special trip, and I don’t know anybody better to explore the place with.

Kialo responded very quickly with my questions and concerns when I decided to book the tour just a day before the visit. We didn't think about requesting a tour guide for the place until then, thought it would be simple with google maps and GPS. I am glad that we contacted Kialo and decided to have him lead us through the Bisti badlands. It's a place that is extremely beautiful yet easy to get lost if traveling for the first time. Kialo gave us two route options: a flatter and easier path and a more tortuous and difficult one, both with different rock formations and sceneries. We chose the difficult one. It was manageable if you are used to trail-walking, but definitely come with a pair of nice hiking boots. We went in January so it was icy and partially covered with snow, which creates an even more interesting scene. Kialo explained the formation of the place and the different layers and striations of the rocks and clays. He also shared and answered our curiosities about the native culture of the place. It was a relaxing and comfortable experience. He would take us to the paths and places with the best photography angles and even took some nice photos for us. Overall, Kialo is extremely helpful, experienced, intelligent and genuine. I would definitely go again with him to explore the Chaco ruins and canyon once I get a chance.

We had the good fortune to tour the Chaco Canyon indigenous lands with Kailo. I would not characterize this as a tour but rather as an incredible, immersive learning. Kailo walked us through a story about why Chaco was built here, who built it, how, what it was used for, then why the people left. The knowledge, history of the people and culture Kailo was able to convey was amazing. If you have the opportunity to experience these indigenous lands and culture with Kailo, take it.

We had an amazing tour of the Bisti Wilderness with Gilbert, it was terrific. The area is unique and varied. Every 5 minutes you see something new that is unlike anywhere else you’ve ever been. Gilbert has a fund of knowledge of the area and it’s culture, and knows the Bisti area well, from the geology, history, and best views ( e.g. The Egg Hatchery to the Vanilla and Chocolate Hoodoos, to the Boneyard, to black, white, yellow and brown patchwork of desert landscapes). I highly recommend this tour!

My husband and I went on two tours with his company. Both tours were amazing! The places are amazing and it is a problem to go on your own because it is hard, probably impossible to find on your own, but even if we can find the places, the guides enhanced our experiences a lot. They are bringing you in the right places at right time of the day. Also, we learned a lot about the Native Indian culture. You have to do it! and you have to do it with these people!
