We were hosting out of town friends who expressed an interest in seeing the museum and thought we would only spend a short time there. We ended up spending three hours in the museum and eating lunch in the museum cafe. Good permanent exhibits and traveling exhibit on woodcuts. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the... More

This has a lot more than just art. There was a big exhibit of items from Hollywood movies made in New Mexico (most of them Westerns, but not all of them). The history sections were very good, and so were the science exhibits, all of them with a New Mexico connection. The interactive model of how acequias (desert irrigation canals)... More

Very reasonable admission, especially for seniors. We asked the person at the front desk for advice on how to structure a two hour visit. She was very helpful and asked if we were more interested in art or history. We ended staying longer. The collection of local artists was superb. We poked around the historical section and were less impressed.... More

I lived in Albuquerque for 14 years in the 70s and 80s...and now visit my daughter who remained there....first time at the museum and loved every minute. We were fortunate to take in a wonderful guitar/vocal concert (Michael) and a limited display of movies related to New Mexico. The various exhibits are well placed and very interesting. We were there... More

If you're in Albuquerque, you should visit here. Lots of great exhibits about New Mexico. They did a great job of telling the story of the state. We thought we'd pop in for a few minutes and ended up being in there for hours.

The main focus of the museum is the history of the motion picture industry in New Mexico which did not particularly interest us. We had gone to view the art of Georgia O'Keefe but did not see any. There are a few other interesting pieces of art and sculpture.

Inexpensive to visit and a big variety of exhibits. Worth going to. History, art, lots to see. A great place to visit on a rainy/windy day.

This museum did a good job showcasing the history of the city and New Mexico itself along with an ongoing art exhibit of the region. They also had several galleries for temporary exhibits. Worth a stop!

Really enjoyed touring this museum with a lot of amazing art and sculpture works, historical exhibits, and even an area featuring movies made in New Mexico! Admission was only $4 for non resident adult (and FREE on Sundays). Location is great, too - at the E. edge of the Old Town area.

Thank Tom G
