They have numerous geographical type areas, including a working farm, Asian pond, tropical building, butterfly house, children's pretend underground place and plenty of other plants and sights to see, including a working outdoor train setup. I recommend checking it out, even if you're not a Botanist.

This is another ABQ that can take all day. It is located close to the zoo. You can see the local plants that are in NM. The plant exhibits are very interesting - you must see it to believe it.

The botanical gardens have something for everyone. There are model trains, ducks and butterflys for the kids. The gardens themselves are beautiful. This is a great place to spend a day. If your a local the annual pass is a must (2-3 visits and it pays for itsself)

each garden has a theme and if you have time for only one I would recommend the Japenese the day was very hot and I would have liked to spend more time

Every year since 1997, Albuquerque rolls out millions of sparkling holiday lights in 500 displays at the ABQ BioPark. Called "River of Lights," it's New Mexico's largest walk-through light show and is open from November 26-December 30. Best time to go for the smallest crowds is middle of the week and after Christmas. Any other time, expect masses to come... More

Around the end of November, we all look forward to the River of Lights here. Walking from place to place, which is covered with lights is AMAZING! We went midweek, so there weren't a lot of crowds and the weather was comfortable for December. There are lights in wonderful shapes, sizes and colors that delight the eyes and bring a... More

Everything is good at this place, but I was especially awed by the bug room(s) this time. The leaf-cutter ants could be seen overhead going back and forth as busy workers.

What a great combination (Aquarium, Zoo, Biopark) to have! We got the 1-year-pass as a gift and we plan to renew. You can go to each one on a different day, or make a full day and see all three. The ambiance at the Aquarium restaurant is beautiful though the food is not great. Still worth the experience. River of... More

Of course we strolled through the "River of Lights" last night - who wouldn't. But the Albuquerque Biological Park is wonderful any time of the year, showcasing our amazing desert plants that are so beautiful with so little water!
