An extensive look at a beautiful stone.
The Turquoise Museum was awesome. The displays were informative and beautifully presented. We learned so much about mining, refining, and producing exquisite jewelry and art objects as well as what to do when purchasing this stone. We had an opportunity to personally speak to one of the family members. He was so knowledgeable and gave us a greater appreciation for turquoise and its importance in many cultures.

    Don't miss this fascinating museum
When one thinks of tourquise, one usually thinks of the American southwest. But a visit to this museum and you will discover a whole new world. Fascinating multi-room exhibits cover every aspect of turquoise with exhibits from all over the world. It is primarily a self guided tour, but if you are lucky enough, as we were, the owner or a member of the family will be around to astound you with stories and information. Well worth the 3 hours we spent.

An Amazing Museum if you Appreciate Gems.
An exquisite “gem” of a museum that should not be missed if you have any interest at all in gems and/or geology. The love that has gone into every single exhibit is incredible. So much to see and all of it laid out in amazingly rich detail. My wife and I were stunned at the level of detail and craftsmanship on display. Quite possibly Albuquerque’s greatest hidden treasure!

    The Turquoise Story
There is a lot more to the story of turquoise than one would think. They have 14 galleries all devoted to a different aspect of Turquoise. The museum is very educational and they have an unbelievable collection of things made from turquoise and turquoise stones and ore. Well worth the price of admission.

Seeing Turquoise from all the famous mines
The museum was the highlight of our trip to Albequerque. Seeing Turquoise from all the famous mines and what top quality turquoise looks like was fantastic. I especially enjoyed learning how turquoise attributes can be used to grade Turquoise. It was also interesting seeing the scientific tidbits about one of the worlds top gem stones.Loved the display on what "Hat Mines" are, their locations, discriptions and specimens.

    Unique Gallery of Turquoise
Set in an unlikely castle in downtown Albuqueque, this amazing gallery of turquoise will fascinate the geologist, jeweler, the curious and learners of any age. I enjoyed seeing how cultures around the world have used turquoise, comparing stones from many mines and learning about synthetic processes. There are hands-on activities for kids and adults. The staff was easy to engage and shared their knowledge. The museum was an unexpected surprise so I will be recommending the gallery as a must-see while in Albuquerque.

Turquoise Museum Visit in January 2024
Very informative and interesting. An almost overwhelming amount of information to assimilate, so, one has to mentally filter how much of what is presented in such a way that it enhances their personal interests and ability to process it. We visited during a lightly attended time slot enabling us to directly interact with the curator of the museum and that was a terrific and unexpected bonus. His personal knowledge is forged from years of an active, direct participation in both the global turquoise market and the global mining sides of the industry; he is a wealth of information!. BTW, the "castle" is an impeccably maintained and pleasing aspect of the visit. We highly recommend visiting.

    Great find
I was visiting family in Albuquerque, who didn’t even know this museum existed. I actually went there because of an atlas obscure ad. It was an amazing find and so much more in-depth than I thought it would be. I actually plan on returning my next trip to spend some more time there. I would recommend it to anybody.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are glad you enjoyed your visit.

    Exceptional Museum Experience
Loved the rich history and the array of turquoise displayed from locations around the world. Several generations of experiences, collections and stories are well-laid out in exhibits through many rooms and floors. The owners made frequent rounds and generously answered every one of our questions! There was just so much to see and learn, and the interactive exhibits were really great, as well.

Extensive Collection and Knowledge of Turquoise
I would recommend this museum to anyone who is interested in all things turquoise - history, geology, viewing beautiful turquoise stones and jewelry. Alternative/non-genuine stones are a part of the collection, too, giving the viewer information about identifying the real natural turquoise stone. This museum houses a unique and vast collection from all over the world.

The guided tour was well worth the price, the time, and the effort. Jacob patiently answered all of our questions and we learned far more than we had expected.

This museum is structured for appointed time, no exceptions to getting in if late. The explanation was to give visitors a chance to self guide after seeing intro video and not be distracted by other visitors crowding for views. Appreciated the explanation. The museum is a labor of love to educate the public about turquoise. Gem quality vs other type of turquoise many people buy from numerous vendors. The best info is to know where the turquoise comes from authentically certified or verified from reputable dealer when buying gem quality for certain and other type turquoise also! The mansion museum is stunning. Looks more like a movie set. Very well organized. There are seats along the way to rest while you’re viewing. Overall this is a worthwhile stop in a city that has limited educational options.

Extraordinary museum! Privately owned, the exhibits focus on relevant information and education as opposed to donor information. I enjoyed all of the exhibits, but was particularly impressed with the international collection, displays of turquoise from different mines, and the processes used for imitation.

Owners were on site as curators and were very informative. Don't miss this gem of a museum.

This is like a dream come true for a turquoise enthusiast. The displays were so informative and the staff was amazingly frank and energetic. Questions were answered, but a panoply of new ones have been envisioned. Now I cannot wait to go back and start over.

We went to celebrate our dear friends birthday. She has a special place in her soul for turquoise. For myself, I intended to tag along for her benefit. However! What an amazing experience for the four of us!!! Nothing was left out in their presentations. Jacob was ever present and witty. Made us feel right at home and comfortable with all topics. I can assure you that your time will be well spent. Best recommendation is to order tickets for earlier in the morning to show enough time to take everything in!!! Arriving at 1:30 pm and leaving at 4 pm went way too too quick. We will be buying out turquoise from here from now on. Also the family involvement means so much to this experience. The history!!!! Precious.
