ABQ was 98º and the temp at the La Luz/Crest trail was 68º. Great views. I recommend you drive up to the Crest House and do the Crest 130 Loop which includes the La Luz trail. Detour slightly to the Kawanies (sp?) House.

Used to be one of the best places to hike with family , friends and pets. Not anymore. Too many people on the trail with pets they don't pick up after so the trail smells like dog poop and urine. Otherwise it's a nice trail...More

It was a great way to spend the day once I finally found the trail. For some reason Google maps took me to a very beautiful residential area with the same name. A very gracious gentleman came out of his home and sent me in...More

This is not a hike for beginners. This is not a hike for international tourists who have just arrived in the USA the day before. This is not a hike for anyone who normally lives at sea level, who travels 26 hours to get to...More

Hike is great but requires a lot of stamina since it’s mostly uphill walking. In most places it’s a good path. In the middle section you have to cross a bunch of rock fall which makes it challenging esp with the elevation change. Highly recommended....More

Difficult and long trail. Exciting and worth it if you are physically fit to make 7 miles and climb 3000 feet. Plan most of the day and as always hydrate, have good hiking boots and a jacket for the cooler temp at the top.

The 7 mile main trail up (3000+ ft) from the parking lot and the .8 extra to the Tram were a great workout and the views from the top of the Tram are fantastic. Wear a hydration pack and bring some snacks. Trail gets rocky...More

Love this trail. Has many sections that different levels of hikers can go on. If you go to the summit your body will diffidently feel it. We saw several different age groups make the trip to the peak. We met with a couple who were...More

This hike is easy, but long, so come prepared. I always hike up about 9 miles I think to the crest, hike south to the tram terminal, and then take the tram down and hike North over to the parking lot. Bring water, and start...More
