This bay is on lava rock in north kona with clear water and hiding from wind and tides , so it's one of best places for snorkeling in big island. Even more like Pu'uhounau o honaunau , it's place that acient Hawaiians believe in spiritual...More

This bay is noted for it's easy entry on the rock ledges at the shore ( Hence the name "two-step) Water is pretty clear & the bay is very large , so there is a very large area for swimming & exploring. Quite busy but...More

We did a three island stops trip to Hawaii and this was the best snorkeling on all three! The best part is you don't have to go out on a boat or pay for a tour. You need to wear water shoes since the story...More

We did not go there for snorkeling, just something fun to do. We listened to the ranger give her talk, very interesting and walked around the very well preserved grounds. Not breath taking but fun, something interesting to do. Golden pass works there.

The guide books list Honaunau Bay, next to the Place of Refuge, as a “beach” but FYI it’s a lava flow right up to the water - hard to walk on and uncomfortable to sit/lay on. I saw 2 people fall. The snorkeling is fine,...More

I'd recommend you go to the Place of Refuge first to walk around. The respect the locals have for this site is amazing. The views are gorgeous and you can see fish and turtles from the shore. Two Step is just a short walk away....More
