From the beach this little island is a beautiful view, where you can here all the hundreds of sea lions frolicking around the island where they congregate and breed. A picturesque favorite spot of mine here in Crescent City. I would recommend this to ANYONE visiting our little town.

Nice view of a large seastack/small island only from the mainland. You can't actually get to the island unless you swim or kayak.

I read about this as I was planning this trip and I'm glad I did. You can't actually go to this wildlife preserve, but you can view it from the shoreline. There are spots to park and we found a short trail to walk to the beach. You have to do a little climbing down (and back up) to the... More

This is a beautiful island that is restricted to non-human wildlife. In June the Common Murre nests here and you can see up-close video in real time if you go to the National Park Information Center at 1111 2nd St. in Crescent City where a large screen displays activity being recorded by a camera on Castle Rock.

Castle Island (so named for its castle-like shape when viewed from shore and called Castle Rock by the locals) is an ocean sanctuary and is closed to humans. A resting and nesting area for numerous sea birds and ocean mammals, the smaller surrounding sea stacks provide a rich environment for all kinds of aquatic life. Castle Rock is best viewed... More

This park has wonderful outlooks to take in spectacular sunsets. Access to the beach is down ver long stairs that unfortunately do not make it directly o the beach, ending on a stone wall a few feet high that may be an obstacle to some people.
