The park is notable for Silverbell Lake and the off-leash Dog Park and facilities. The lake itself is about 1 mile in circumference. The limited vegetation around the lake allows for a pleasant breeze and evaporative cooling, especially pleasant during these hot summer months. The lake is stocked with catfish, trout, and bass. You will need a valid fishing license... More

Nice place to visit. You can walk around the lake and can watch the local "fisherman" sitting on their chairs chilling out and waiting if some fish will show up. Weekend looks it is for family with barbeque and children playing around. I saw mostly very simple people at this place. It is a pleasant place to enjoy some blue... More

We were cycling on the Loop and came upon Christopher Columbus Park just north of the Silverbell Golf Course off Silverbell and Sweetwater. The lake is a good place to go for a picnic, to watch the birds or to fish in the stocked lake. It's a peaceful location. If you are riding your bicycle be careful to avoid the... More

I frequent Columbus Park and am pleased with it's atmosphere. It is typically clean and well maintained. In addition, it seems to be a safe place to relax, fish, or hang out with your dogs. The dog park is nothing fancy but it tends to be popular as it is common for 20+ dogs to be present at a time... More

One nice thing about city parks is any resident wildlife gets somewhat accustomed to people. On the advice of a local birder we ran into at Sweetwater, we took a break from stalking the local fowl there and made the short drive to this park. A litter problem was depressingly apparent, but on a weekday before lunchtime there were only... More

Lake views, a good place to go for a picnic, interesting lakeshore, lots of birds, mostly pleasant quiet on weekdays (weekends they fly some radio controlled model airplanes), a mostly quiet enjoyable place for family picnics.
