Get your cameras ready for some amazing photo opportunities. Whether you visit for religious, art history, or architectural reasons, you will not be disappointed. This is a true jewel that has withstood the harsh AZ desert. Due to our schedule, we were unable to book...More

This is about the 10th Spanish mission that I have visited. It's nice to see that it's being restored. I just sat there and meditated for a few minutes, wondering about all the history that occurred here. It's something not to be missed on your...More

A gleaming site you cannot miss from the nearby highway. Stunning, white edifice in the dusty dessert. Undergoing exterior restoration (left shown above now finished; just starting bottom of right tower side). Inside wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling carvings of saints and angels. All wood, we were told....More

Take the free tour and visit the cafe in the parking lot. The food was some of the best we had. We hiked to the top of the hill as well. The desert truly has a way to make you feel small and respectful of...More

San Xavier Bac was on our “to see” list in Tucson. This historic site of faith and pilgrimage can be seen for miles. As you approach imagine how it must have dominated the desert when it was the most substantial building in sight. Parking is...More

This is a must stop while you're in Tucson. So much history. It opened in 1797 and is now going through restoration . It serves the community today as it did way back when by observing the religious needs of it's parishioners.

I visited early in the morning right before a service. This is a working Mission with a school, dorms for the Clergy and a museum area. The Church has a great Sanctuary with old wooden hand carved statuary. There is an outside chapel and a...More

Reasonably. It is a church so that part is easy. Some of the grounds have gravel walkways. That's more difficult depending on ones infirmity.
