Voted BEST OF TUCSON every year since 2002 by readers of the Tucson Weekly,...

Voted BEST OF TUCSON every year since 2002 by readers of the Tucson Weekly, The Loft Cinema is a mission-driven, membership-supported nonprofit cinema that screens new independent American and foreign films and documentaries, along with classic art films, interactive events including a monthly short film contest, sing-a-longs and cult favorites. Patrons can enjoy beer, wine, pizza, tamales along with fantastic films.

The main theatre seats 500 people and boasts the largest screen in Southern Arizona. In addition to our regular programming, The Loft hosts an annual international film festival in the fall and a free children's film festival every July. The Loft is a member of the Sundance Institute's Art House Project, based on our excellence of programming and service to the community. In 2012 The Loft was selected to be an official venue of the Sundance Film Festival in their Sundance USA program and we have hosted a screening direct from Sundance with the filmmakers every year since. The Loft is one of 7 American cinemas to be a collaborating partner with Film Forward: Advancing Cultural Dialogue in 2012, an honor The Loft also enjoyed in 2011.

Wonderful theater

The best place to see art and foreign films in Tucson. Community supported and now with a third movie screen. They often have special events.

Several intimate theaters in this retro building, nothing fancy but we keep returning because we love the atmosphere, the popcorn and the more "artsy" movies we find here.

Saw Chasing Ice one night, a sobering documentary about the receding glaciers, then the next night we saw film shorts from the Sundance Film festival. What an eclectic mix of fims!

Great place for "Independent Film" lovers to hang out, along with other film lovers, in a quaint intimate setting. The always happening "Special Events" are a major feature of the Loft that help to make it a unique and refreshing entertainment option in Tucson.

I love going to the loft. The only place in town to see classic movies and independent films. The people are kind and considerate. Free popcorn to members. The loft provides lots of opportunities to meet film directors and actors and producers! greeat for a date or educational opportunity with lots of documentaries.

With the addition of another screen, the Loft contnues to bring a variety of films not shown in regular theaters. I became a member right after I moved here. The selection is fantastic.

If you like independent movies this is the place for you. Some of the movies might be in general release ("Winter's Bone" is on that comes to mind). Others you will find only at the Loft. But whether foreign or home grown almost all of these features are high quality--not the average Hollywood formulaic pictures. In addition, they serve beer and... More

I love this place, they don't show the most popular movies per se, but they do show a lot of classics, obscure indie films, great documentaries and they always have something interesting going on each month. My favorite thing about this place is their weekly cult classic showings.

This where to catch the best of documentaries, independent films and just great movies. They not only show movies but often have guest appearances from actors, directors and those associated with the industry. Their Film Festival every Nov. is not to be missed. Great concessions with pizza, beer, wine and much more. A totally fun place to see movies.

We have enjoyed several movies here. They offer films you can't find anywhere else - including wonderful independent films and cult classics. It's always a fun experience.
