The Spanish mission at Santa Barbara, Ca and this are my favorite missions and I have visited them all over the years. San Xavier is still a active church that projects an atmosphere of peace. It was built by the people and it reflects their history and beliefs. A visit to the mission is good for your soul. Even if... More

The plaza in front of the mission was a large open space surrounded by native american vendors selling fry bread, tacos and crafts.

A clear day and the mission is a thing of beauty. Incredible. We walked through the grounds and there were native Americans frying flat bread in booths near the mission. A lot of fun.

We stopped by on our last day as we heard it was not to be missed. So glad we did - beautiful inside - wish we had more time to spend there. Next time will definitely go back.

This is a historic place located in an american reservation area. The people here are very friendly. The free tours are very informative and help enhance the experience. Around 2 hours should be more than enough to visit this place.

This church is one of the oldest in the area. One other was destroyed by the natives in the 1700's. This building is under constant maintenance, and the walls are covered with murals dating back to the early 1800's. When we visited, there were workers carefully repainting the murals in much the same way and with the historically accurate paints... More

Breathtakingly beautiful inside and out. A must see on a visit to Tucson. Please be respectful of those who use this destination as a place of worship. Well worth visiting.

This is a great place to see the history and art of the church in Ariz. Be sure to get there in time for the guided tour! The church is open for services on Sunday also.

Dropped by on a lark because I had never been there. Beautiful inside. Outside needs a little sprucing up. We should go back for a service.
