Great way to get back to town, very scenic from several overlooks and wonderful evening sunset. We enjoyed the views.

Stumbled onto this place after visiting the Arizona Senora Desert Museum. What a beautiful place. Views are amazing, Saguaro everywhere, and the light at late afternoon was spetacular.

We were here about 10 years ago and wanted to go visit again--i have a favorite picture taken here and we wanted to recreate it. The view of course is gorgeous--hard to understand how the pioneer people made it through here--rugged terrain. Felt bad about all the graffiti that was on the buildings??? Why do people do this--otherwise it was... More

Driving through Gates Pass is always a treat. Make no mistake, you have to pay close attention to the rode in the turns. There are designated pull offs so you can take your time enjoying the views. I is truly a drive that should not be missed. It is the most enjoyable way to get to Old Tucson Studios and... More

You have to check your sunset and moon-rise times before this works perfect and make sure they are within a close proximity of one another. Plus you need to walk up the hill to the man-made concrete bench which is built so when sitting in it you are facing upward, not a lot, just the right amount. You will not... More

If you want a beautiful drive just 10 miles outside of Tucson, this is it. Take the road toward Old Tucson and you are in for a treat, the mountains, the Saguaro cactus and the beauty of the desert is just breathtaking. I live in AZ and had not been there before, so even I was impressed with the views.

This is my best place in Tucson to watch a sunset or thunderstorm. The drive is up a winding road, the parking is generous, there is a restroom and a place to hike even higher to view our million-dollar sunsets and thunderstorms.

Gates Pass is just west of Tucson and very easy to drive to. Many look outs along the drive offer spectacular vistas of the the Tucson mountains and Saguaro National Park to the west and the city of Tucson to the east. This drive is particularly beautiful in March and April as wild flowers abound. Be sure bring your hiking... More

I always stop at the Gates Pass overlook when driving from the Starr Pass area to Saguaro Natl Park, the Arizona - Sonora Desert Museum, or Old Tucson. I was at Gates Pass last Saturday, on a beautiful clear day. You can see mountains 50 miles away and get a sense for the local geology. There are some short hikes... More
